I didn't realize what I was starting - I was just joking about going in and just taking a drink without paying. But to have someone hassle you for returning with a cup you legitimately paid for refills on is absolutely ridiculous. Just because you went outside for a time doesn't mean it's a new visit when you return.
Yeah, she was the epitome of Eric Cartman [google.com]. Or Barney Fife.
Where should they draw the line though? Where would the law draw the line? Leaving the property at all, coming back after 10 minutes or longer? They are franchises and set their rule that the threshold is the definition of leaving at this location. I laugh about her now, but with rampant theft, they are taking these out more and more. The bad actors kill it. This location sees only black and white, not making exceptions. I would never be comfortable approaching a customer with a blatant accusation like she did. But that may be how she was trained. Lord knows she loved her power. As far as she knew I went and ran several errands, and whether I did or not, I did leave the building after spending a while there for my dine-in order. That might be her manager's rule.

I see her logic, her only error was that her customer relations aspect was lacking. We need to see both sides. She may have her marching orders to watch for this specific problem of people coming back later.

Who would win in a managerial or even a lawful showdown is not worth my time. Had I given her grief back as was suggested earlier, no way to tell how much her power trip would escalate. Forget legal repercussions for a moment. Possibly get banned from the store with the manager's say so? It was not the hill I wanted to risk dying on.
If you've ever been banned from places for fighting for "your rights" or for simply telling them how they screwed up in an animated fashion, you'd find it might not be worth it. Live and learn.

I don't like their coffee. It tastes like burned coffee beans but I do enjoy their drinks.

Critique Panera all you want (and there are plenty of things to critique, btw), but I thoroughly enjoy the sip membership.

Source on the girl drinking two large cups of it? I can't seem to find that, but it seems the drink had 390 mg caffeine per 30 fl oz... Just under the 400 mg "safe" limit for healthy adults. Was there adequate and appropriate signage warning people that one large cup of this "healthy" charged lemonade had the caffeine content equivalent to 3 and a half Red Bulls? Doubtful. Killed two people and probably has caused issues with many more people... I get that people miss it, but Panera removing it was ultimately a business decision because it was a flawed product.
100% business decision but the product was not flawed. If anything, it delivered everything it promised!

For those who have an existing Panera trial membership, you will need to use incognito mode to see the offer.
Which browsers does this work in? Also, do I need to cancel my current trial first or does it even matter?

That "bring your own cup" idea is crazzzy!! Especially since you're serving yourself! That leaves them wide open for theft!....but not to worry, folks! Their insanity will have them raising prices to compensate for the losses! Then everyone suffers as a result of these lowlifes! Starbucks has a similar policy....but the customers aren't preparing their own drinks, so either they pay or no way!
I feel like Sip Club reg price has raised once or twice in the past 2 yrs.

I started using this 3 months ago, the last time I saw on here, I never order ahead, just walk in and ask for a large cup and they give it to me no questions asked.

I bring my own insulated big tumbler/cup because it is better for everyone anyway. Including the environment. They even have "Bring your own cup" campaigns now and then. Never once been questioned. I only get their cup if I forget mine.
I do the same. It worked great when the plastic cups were self-service. Now, I have to get someone's attention to let them know that I don't need the cup. Not a huge deal, but it adds a bit of inconvenience.

I hate idea of my plastic cups filling up landfills. Recently, I told them I didn't need a cup. They said "no problem" and then promptly through the empty and unused cup in the trash. *sigh*

ETA: Some years ago, pre-covid, Panera had a Travel Mug Refill option in their app. Unfortunately it was removed and never returned. You can still order it in person, I think, but that just adds more work for everyone.

Only if it is a pending charge and does not post. If you actually get charged, you did it wrong. In your Sip Club account it will show the next billing date of 3 months out from your start date if you did it right. They often test charge a $1 pending that disappears a few days later, just to make sure you gave them a valid card.

Do they still have the Blood Orange Charged Splash?
They've all been removed from their menu due to negative media coverage / people dying from the drinks

Multiple people died drinking their product. By your logic nothing is a business's fault.
That's like saying someone overdosed on Ibuprofen, it is the drugstore's fault.

No, if you have a heart condition, you shouldn't be drinking high-caffeine drinks. The caffeine content was clearly marked on all the machines.
