Thanks for the heads up! This is the older version that's just been replaced. Also, the 5000 and 6000 are the same physical size, the 6000 has a deeper spool.

I've never really bought any high-end reels of this price range before but this seems like a good deal… Would this be similar to a van staal? I was thinking into buying something of this type for a sight casting cobia setup.

The van staal is in a higher price class. This is probably a better functioning reel. It's 90% of what you'll get in a Saltiga which is around 1k. Van Staals are a bit more artistic in their designs, and a little less refined but that also translates into increased simplicity and durability.

This reel will be ok for Cobia.

Amazon has certate (Celtate) misspelled $270 from Japan.

Stella's import $561

I just bought a twin power on sportsmanguide for $277 (use 30off code, pay for membership). Or else would have got certate on Amazon.

The amazon Certate's are the LT(light models) and the 5000 is more expensive than this deal and the 6000 isn't available. Also JDM reels have no warranty in the US. Models bought from US Sellers have a 5 year warranty.

The Certate is supposedly based on the saltiga (a more expensive reel) and the twin power is supposedly based on the Saragosa (a less expensive reel). I think the Certate is a better buy.

No, these are saltwater (SW) ones. The 2024 new ones are freshwater versions.

These are very good prices for great reels. I own a 5000. Highly recommend.

Not really into spin casting, but I'm not sure I understand what makes something like this worth $300, when it seems there are plenty of slickdeals for similar reels in the $50-$100 price range that seems to have rave reviews...

Is this THAT much better (and worth the price)? If so, can someone please post a bit of a description / explanation? Thanks...

You won't believe how many spinning reels above $300 there are in the market. Probably out number the models below $100!...I'm not being sarcastic either!

Yeah I'm leaning on doing a return for the certate, I'm lazy to do returns.

Man, I don't know about that chrome in salt…and on top of that, you have all those scratches and scuffs over time. It sure does look nice though

::sigh:: there goes $359, thanks OP. Even without the code it's a steal. I was waiting to buy another Saragosa. The Certate is newer so not as well tested or reviewed, but a lot of what I've read puts the Certate above the Saragosa or Twinpower. Picked up a 6000, can't wait to try it on my 10.5' Seage surf rod. This is a killer deal for a reel easily worth $600. I appreciate it
