Nikon makes good stuff, but most of the sets I own came from Goodwill's online store.

Well, starting with the obvious: 7x magnification versus 10x for that other model. Dropping from a 42mm objective lens to a 35mm objective isn't really a loss at all - appropriate sizing of the objective lens is proportional to the magnification, so 7x35 and 10x42 will both have similar light-gathering abilities. The only real distinction in that regard then would be the size of the overall package: the 7x35 will be smaller/lighter than the 10x42.

Make no mistake, Nikon's Aculon are budget binoculars. I wouldn't choose these for serious birding, for instance. But Nikon is a respected, reputable brand. I would sooner trust Nikon's budget line in terms of QC, construction and warranty support than I would some budget brand you've scarcely/never heard of.

What does one give up in choosing budget binoculars? Do the birds somehow know and disrespect you?

If you're watching booty with binoculars, you're watching some other guy walk up to said booty

Actually the Bushnell is a better deal. [amazon.com]

Keepa shows those Bushnell's were $25.49 (new) from AMZ for most of the Spring of '24. I'd wait for them to return to that price unless you need them now.
