It literally says tool only, battery and charger not included in multiple locations in the title, listing, photos, etc. If you don't understand that batteries not included means you need to supply your own, you've missed nearly all product marketing over the last 40+ years

Anyone confused by the title shouldn't be operating a chain saw without supervision.

Your title is misleading. It requires batters but "no batteries INCLUDED". It could be read as it has an internal battery that is charged like a cell phone. Please change the title to "Battery not included, purchase separately"

Quote from one of the poor reviews " This is very deceptive marketing… nowhere on the item description does it mention the battery is not included

It requires a lithium-ion battery, the battery and charger are NOT INCLUEDED. Add the cost of those items to the total if you don't already have them.

I think this is normally sold with 4ah battery. I have plenty of 2-2.5 ah. Should these run this ok?

They should work fine, and it'll be easier on your back than the heavier 4Ah battery. Just shorter runtime is all. My leaf blower has a 2Ah and that tires my arm out after a while.

Pretty good deal to round out your GW collection. Does have a good amount of power to cut through 6 inches or less. Be sure to sharpen the chain frequently and top off the oil. Does dull out fast.

As someone else mentioned, the bigger the battery you use, the harder it is to balance it. Of course you work with what you have, but a 2.0 ah battery balances best.

With brushless tools the larger the battery the more power. And of course longer run time. 2ah bat would be too small for me on a large chainsaw. But, sometimes you gotta work with what you have...

One review:

"I bought this saw and two of the 2A batteries thinking it would be enough to start. This saw cuts quickly and well without pinching or getting bogged down. Major problem is SHORT battery life! Don't even bother buying the 2A batteries, as you can only get about 5-8 cuts through a 16-18" log! That's not a typo... you get about 10 min of cutting time before the battery beeps and dies! I had to use my old GAS saw to finish cutting up ONE 18" ash tree! The 4A battery costs over $200, but at least is lasts about 20-25 min of cut time. "

There seems to be at least three different versions of this Greenworks 80V 18" chainsaw:

42cc version (from this SD post) Amazon listing:
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00SU75KPU

42cc or 45cc version (it says both... lol) (from an earlier SD post) Walmart listing:
https://www.walmart.com/ip/Greenw...0/43854083

50cc version (from an earlier SD post) Best Buy listing:
https://www.bestbuy.com/site/gree...Id=6514917

I personally went with the Best Buy version because it appears to be the latest and greatest version of this chainsaw, and it also includes two batteries and a charger.

Greenworks makes two chainsaw models, brushed and brushless. The additional boost comes from using the larger 4.0Ah (vs 2.0Ah) battery.

You need to check voltages an wattage. That's what would matter; an could kill either if incorrectly matched. Though technically battery devices tend to slow down as power runs out. So say at 4 a/h it lasts 30 minutes an 25 minutes of that is working speed. That could mean 2a/h would last 15 minutes an 10 at working speed.

Saw is good. Took me like 15mins to modify a kobalt 80v battery to fit with a dremel. If you have a router it will take 90 seconds best buy has additional bar/chain on sale for $20

Costco now has the updated (Gen 2.5) 50cc version for sale. Tool only is still $280 but it comes with spare chains. It also has a sale with the battery and a case included for $340.
