It's a good saw. But keep in mind it's huge and needs a lot of space in the back due to the sliding mechanism. Alternatively, delta/ridgid, Bosch and Festool have the sliding mechanism in the front so the saw can be placed against the wall.
If you want THE BEST miter saw stand ever invented, keep an eye out for the foldable mobile miter saw stand from Rigid. They used to go on sale for around $100 a couple times a year. Even at full price, it's worth it though. I use this thing multiple times per week and I don't know what I'd do without it.
Amazing deal! I've had this saw since 2017. It is a work horse. At this price, it's a no brainer if you need a solid saw.

Can this cut concrete?
You need the right wheel, but yes. Unless your dust collection is incredible, you will eventually ruin the saw… Ask me how I know haha. The dust gets into everything and fouls up the mechanisms.

Any cheap way to add laser to this?
You can find the shadow kit made for the 780 online and install it yourself. Some personal preference is involved, but the shadow provides a better cut line imo.

define cheap? I spent about $90 on a kit. It isn't a laser it is a light that shows the kerf of the blade in its shadow. So, in essence, you'll have continuously light on your wood except for the kerf of the blade and that is where your cut will be.

Would this be the same with cutting agates and crystals?

yea, buy a laser that replaces the arbor. adding the xps light is superior, but not cheap. id wait for the 780 to go on sale if thats the route you want to go.
Fwiw I had an arbor laser on my DeWalt. I removed it. You could probably get better accuracy mount the lasers to the heads of sharks. Like others have said for accuracy lasers don't cut it, and when you do lean down to get pin point precision, the concentrated laser light blurs the area and hit you in the eye.

$90 is 30% of what I paid for this saw on a previous deal, so that's not cheap.

I have no idea what your point is.

If we're bragging about what we got our saws for I got the 779 WITH the matching stand for $299 in 2018. I am frugal but not to a point it becomes stupid.

I spent the $90 for a laser upgrade kit and it was well worth the upgrade for me. If that's too much money for you to spend or you don't use your saw that much, then guess what, you don't have to purchase a laser kit! Phenomenal, right?

Dude wanted to know where to get a cheap laser for the saw.... "cheap" is a relative term. $90 to me is OK, $90 to you might be too much, and $90 for John BigShot across town might be like pennies.

Acmetools have this+ a stand for $404, if you need the stand
https://www.acmetools.com/dewalt-12-in-sliding-compound-miter-saw-with-compact-miter-saw-stand-dws77... [acmetools.com]l

Got the saw and stand at $404. Plus, for a while, use the Honey app and it gives you $75 back by giving you 7,500 points on the purchase. Great deal! I've had to nag Honey in the past sometimes to get the points, but they have always come through. So got the saw and the stand after tax at $360. woot

How does this compare to the Bosch GCM12SD miter? I've been waiting to buy a 12" dual bevel miter this year, and I really like the Axial Glide System since I don't have a ton of space in the garage. I'd be putting it on a moveable stand as well. TIA!
You may be happier with the Bosch axial glide saw because of your space limitations. Most people like the Bosch saw a lot. Personally I think this DeWalt saw is better because it's a great saw, but also I dislike the axial glide system because it's so bulky. When you mark the back of a workpiece there's no room for your head to see that mark with that bulky axial glide on the one side and the saw motor on the other, to me that's a nonstarter because in production work it just slows things down too much, but that's an issue that probably nobody has unless they're doing high output production trim carpentry, in other situations it's easy to transfer the mark or make the mark elsewhere.

The DeWalt is very bulky and not quite as smooth as some other saws on the market but it's a great saw and it's about $200 less than most of its competition, it is also really easy to adjust for square, WAY easier than the Japanese makes and that counts for a lot if you ate not super practiced at squaring it.

Have fun

Light kit for this is up to $125 with shipping... Still cheaper than buying a 780 I suppose.

Got one of these at HD on clearance deal about 6 months ago. It's a good saw. I remember hearing there's a recall and I've been meaning to check. But haven't noticed anything scary yet.
