This looks like a great saw I could use to redo upstairs baseboard trim when I replace the carpet with hard floors but it's not available nearby. Limited stock 50+ miles away, 1 in stock 75mi opposite directions.

Price changes to $399 too when I add to cart in far away stores.

This saw is basically the top of the line from dewalt. It was replaced by the DWS780, which is identical except it added a cut line indicator. There are lots to add that to the 779 for about $60-$80, as their parts are interchangeable.

How tall is your baseboard? I'd recommend going with the smallest saw that has enough cut capacity for the largest things that you'll need to miter.

Smaller saws, especially if you can forgo the sliding feature, are cheaper, lighter, take less space to use and store, and cut more precisely.

Not that tall. I want to say 2 & 3/4", no more than 4" for sure

I just got this For $240 including tax from the recent eBay deal from tools direct. It was listed as used but mine looks brand new and came in original box. It's a beast!

The DWS779 is overkill for that. I'd get a 10" non-slider. It'll be much smaller, cheaper, and have a lot less slop.

this was the "regular" sale price about 6 months ago, but it hasn't been on sale in a while. So if you need it, good deal.

but i agree, way overkill for trim work. This thing is for building decks.

If all you are looking to do is replace baseboard, this saw is overkill. If however, you think you will be expanding into other carpentry projects, it's great. Dual bevel is IMHO an essential feature that alot of lower priced saws lack.

Can you order one from the online stock? My local store didn't have any either, but I ordered one online three days ago. Free shipping and delivery to my house in less than a week.

I'm hoping to do the same with a 2k cabinet table saw soon, but don't expect it to work very well...
