I frankly hate to scroll through these mini screens or make my eyes binoculars to find that one app logo which looks familiar in the small screen and tap that. In addition listening to phone calls with my hand close to ears is just a lot more work. I have never been amused or been fascinated by their looks and the concept of another screen on my hand rather than a masterpiece of a product what I call it as a watch - the ingenuity behind those tiny mechanical parts, etc. And the fact that I don't have to change a battery (I have a citizen's watch) or neither do I ti worry about it dying after a few years because the processor isn't good enough.
Watches are antiques and if you can spend a lot of money to go after these $150-$800-$1000 digital watches every few years I am sure you can spend a $200 to $500 max on an excellent watch or a timekeeping device that will be long lasting and worth every penny to adorn a jeweled look on your wrist and hand.
Companies like Apple and Samsung are out for businesses. They will come with a newer version every year because they want people to come to them and stick with them once they become a lifelong patron of their brand via Apple or Samsung phones. They will now find ways to make sure their customers revolve around their single account usage and all the electronics tied to the same account.
Apple watch was a good concept but the look of a shiny black screen or display on the hand and a silicon band wrapped around makes me refuse the very idea of having such watch on my hand. It looks like a TV screen that is not ON, on a wall.
Now companies like Apple and Samsung will not want you to just stop after buying the watch once. Every year they will come up with "new features" although how much more can you change in a 40mm sized screen besides software and minor hardware and then customers rush to get the "latest, state of the art" devices when they could just do with a smart phone with large enough display to not cause stress to your eyes and a simple watch to just lift your hand to look at it and tell the time.
Id argue they DO have ingenuity of their tiny parts like you say classic timepieces have. In fact the ingenuity of having a tiny computer on your wrist to accurately give many health metrics is equal to the classics. Difference is that one is human intellectual ingenuity, and the other is human craftsmanship. Both are brilliant, though only one can be mass produced cheaply.
We take for granted that which can be mass produced, but it's no less genius.
As with any marketing, fall 'victim' to it, and you'll be spending more than even practical. A quality smartwatch can last 4-6 years easily. If it provides health information which improves your life, it's invaluable. For all those wearing it thinking it's just cool or another gadget, well.... It's like seeing a cellphone and thinking someone is cool... 20 years ago. But as tech proliferates more and more, often becoming even more invisible, there will be less and less cool factor, and for those that don't have a use case, it'll be for the tech fans.
Look no further than smart rings. Hardly noticeable, and whether it's an oura or Samsung or Amazon knockoff , it's hard to even tell.

I am tending to think they don't care and it just needs to be anything really...
Somewhat strangely the rep said to choose "Fitbit" option over "other"
You might do the chat before buying then save that conversation if there is a rejection later.
Options have diminished, only saw deal for 44mm BT or LTE with limited band options. Free best but pickup but not free delivery. I bought one.
When putting in my Fitbit, they didn't ask about condition, so, like some have said, I don't think they care. It's a deal to move product.
Previews suggest the model 7 lineup may be much improved, but this works for me, for now. And who knows, maybe they'll give a big trade-in value for these to future upgraders.

So we're actually are bringing our chargers everywhere we go. Put the watch on the back of your phone when you sit down somewhere. It doesn't take that long to charge. I have a 1st Gen Galaxy Watch Active, so your wireless charging experience will probably be better than mine.
