I have several of these, it is my favorite water bottle. There are similar models by Stanley and Contigo. The Stanley had a tendency to leak out of the button from certain angles. And the Contigo's cap couldn't effectively be cleaned as everything is screwed down. The Stanley was easiest to clean since it came completely apart, but I think that's also why it leaked.

This Coleman was the best middle ground, the cap doesn't come apart, but does unlatch in a way you can clean it.

My only complaint with this bottle is that the handle piece is made of a very rigid plastic. I've broken it on nearly every bottle I've had, even dropping it on carpet from only a couple feet. If it lands at the right angle, it will snap off no matter what. And Coleman does not sell the cap by itself.

I had the same experience with my handle/hook. Broke with a shallow drop. Coleman was quick to replace the entire bottle under warranty though.
Insulation is not as good as my Takeya bottles though.
As far as vehicle cup holders, it depends. The Coleman did not fit in a 2015 cx-5 but did fit in a 2023 Rouge.

Does your fit in a cars cup holder? Some say yes, others say it depends on

I've got one of the smaller versions of this. I don't like that one quite as much as my Contigos, but nothing major. Really I just liked the feel of the Contigo in hand more. But, to the best of my knowledge, Contigo doesn't make a 40 ounce version, so I'm kind of excited about this one. It will be a nice middle ground between the Contigos and some of the 1.5 liter water bottles I've got.

Bought the 20oz bottle a few weeks ago. Fits a 2019 Honda Accord Sport. The 40 oz may fit as the cup holders area is just a large well with the holders on the bottom of the well.

I just now saw this. The 20oz will fit in any cup holder. But you'd need a really large one to fit the 40oz. It has 3.5" base. But I got what GameBanana above suggested, in fact that exact one. And it's worked out really well.

My favorite water bottle since first purchasing in 2016, had the first one replaced due to weird leak issue, customer service was fantastic and received the new bottle under warranty in a timely fashion. Can't recommend this deal enough!

As for car cup holders, I had to purchase a cup holder expander for this bottle but that's probably the only downside (I drive a VW Passat). Fits in standard cup holder of Honda ridgeline and MB SUVs that I've ridden in

Thanks for this. I missed the Amazon listing but went ahead and bought 3 direct from Coleman. The 24 oz is $16.99. I bought one 40 oz bottle and two of the smallers. I've had this bottle before and it's good. But it's HEAVY so GET YOKED to carry one. Love the auto-seal because toddlers.

These "types" of bottles being the key word. For me the big selling point here is that it's leak proof since almost none of these sorts of bottles usually are. If you just want vacuum insulation and aren't worried about some of the niceties, yeah, grab the less expensive ones.

This isn't just a type of bottle. This has the autoseal lid that allows you to chug it with one hand and then just let go and it is perfectly sealed. That's why I'm not bothered with it not fitting in my cup holder. Throwing it on the passenger seat is no problem. I can still grab it with one hand, drink and then throw it back no problem. And you can actually chug from one of these. Other brands call a chug lid one with an opening big enough for the ice to pour out with the water. I hate that. This is the best water bottle.

I've been carrying the same bottle with a rubber boot and a molle harness/shoulder strap for about 3 years. Because I take care of it, it has been a constant companion, and I call it my "40 Ounces of Freedom". hanging in the strap/harness, it makes everyone think it's a Camera Lens, and people assume I'm a photographer.

Nope, just thirsty.

The cap is great, but I eventually moved over to a cheap straw lid as it's just easier than tipping back a 40 all the time. the siphon hole on the straw leaks all the time. the original cap only leaked when I cross threaded it, which was relatively easy to do (only 1 or 2 threads to speak of).

They make it in a gorgeous neon-green that they call "Spider Mum," but I've only got the black. but I have thought about it a few times.
