I upgraded from the 4 to the 7 two years ago, in order to get the blood oxygen feature. It's a very good watch. My battery is down to 83% after 2 years. One consideration. Should you pay $ 100 for a new battery on a 2 year old watch, or $ 249 for a brand new one, same series? $ 149 more gets you a brand new one. It's not like a car. With pathetic trade in values, the seven is as good, or better than the 9, since the brand new 9 may not have the blood oxygen feature.

I'd stick with the 7 and just charge twice a day

I had a similar issue and bought a cheap 8 from target, same battery life issue after upgrading to the latest software.
