Lots of business displays still use VGA inputs. And basically any monitor made in the last 30+ years or even older will have a VGA input. Say you want to play retro games from a Raspberry Pi on a CRT monitor, this will do the trick.

There's definitely some valid use cases as you mention but still super niche

For whatever reason, the Microsoft Surface Dock will not support dual HDMI or dual USB-C. The only way to get it to use dual monitors is to use the VGA connection to either HDMI or USB-C. My work has hundreds if not thousands of VGA cables in active use because of this nonsense.

I got a nice Dell monitor locally for only $10. The only issue is that, it only supports DP and VGA. I ended up with getting a cheap VGA cable to connect it to my little box. With the cable in this post, I can make the monitor more useful and maybe sell it locally stating that it supports HDMI!!!
