I've seen refurbished and factory refurbished from microcenter, the latter being the one straight from apple which makes it eligible for applecare, but never certified refurbished. Can anyone give insight into this?

If you can get the $100 off coupon on the website, it becomes $1499 which isn't a bad deal at all if this laptop is apple refurbished and not 3rd party refurbished.

Looking at their community section I found a post from December 2023 from someone that bought a Certified Apple Refurbished MBP and was told in store that it came with a 1 year warranty and you could get apple care added to it. When they contacted Apple they were told that MC was a retailer for new products but basically not for refurbished. All that apple would honor would be the 4 months warranty that was left on the machine from the original new purchase. MC basically took the matter offline, no clue on how it was concluded. They were offering their own warranty so I'm assuming they tried to push that on the customer.

Got one yesterday with the $100 off coupon. Certified refurbished 100% comes from apple in their packaging. The laptop is like brand new with all the accessories/paperwork/stickers.
Also confirmed with the rep that it comes with 1yr apple warranty and qualifies for applecare+

This seems like a pretty good deal at $1439… I did confirm with a Micro Center rep that "certified refurbished" means Apple did the refurb - and you can add AppleCare as well. Anyone thinking about pulling the trigger on this over an M3 Pro? Do we think the M3 Pro will get close to this price once the M4 lineup is announced? I'm torn…
