last update made it much more sluggish and prone to microfreezing and some apps stop responding to touch correctly.

Add a easy SMx USBC mobile controller to this and with the Snapdragon inside you can play PS2 and GameCube to make this an under $100 cost for retro gaming

The OnePlus 8 is amazing, mine also feels super fast after all these years, still use it as a backup cause I upgraded to the 12R.

Here Costco is usually only 10 cents cheaper, but lately due to the drop, it's been 25-37 cents cheaper than Chevron, but then there's also the convenience factor.

GSM and CDMA were technologies used by the carriers way back in the 2G and 3G days. CDMA was used by Verizon and Sprint for voice, and then LTE (4G) for data. The iPhone 6S was the first iPhone to support VoLTE (Voice over LTE/4G for calls), and nowadays, we have Vo5G on Tmo and Dish. "As of January 3rd, 2023, Verizon has decommissioned its CDMA Network." Att and Tmo both turned off 3G 1-3+ years ago. Tmo still has some 2G EDGE, but don't worry about that when it comes to buying a new phone nowadays.

Nowadays there's LTE and 5G, and some of the 5G bands are the same exact frequencies as their LTE counterparts, while other's, like ATT 5G+/Verizon's 5GUW are using new frequencies up in the 3.7Ghz range for C-Band 5G.

The spreadsheet I linked makes it pretty easy to see what bands are being used by what carrier and in what capacity, although it's not a nationwide thing.https://docs.google.com/document/...VYLuzg/pub

Any MVNO that used Verizon as the carrier has a white list of IMEI's due to Verizon being Verizon, and if your phone's IMEI isn't on that whitelist, then you won't be getting service with them with that phone, however, you can try using a generated IMEI and then putting the pSIM in your OP8 and see if they crack down on your or not sometime in the future.

Boost doesn't used Verizon at all, they use Att and Tmo, and which pSIM/carrier you get from them varies by a lot of different factors that you'd have to research on reddit if you wanted one att vs tmo, etc. Plus they have their own network (Dish), but getting a Rainbow pSIM is really hard since they're only issues with devices that support all of Dish's 5G bands, of which, there aren't very many currently. Plus they're going bankrupt later this year.

I just read Boost's unlock policy here: https://www.boostmobile.com/suppo...ing-policy

Specifically, these lines:

Account must be active: If your account is in "suspended" status one-year post initial activation, your Prepaid Device will not be eligible for unlocking until it is out of "suspended" status.

Seems like it indicates we just have to have the account active 1 year later to unlock? Could we initially pay for 1 month to unlock, then reactivate a year later for 1 more month just to unlock it to avoid paying for 12 months of service? Any thoughts on this working?

Does anyone know if you can bypass the year wait to unlock by paying for a year of service ahead of time? Some prepaid carriers do this so I was just curious.

In the past there have been services you could use. I used one around a year ago for a Boost Mobile Moto I purchased for my mom. No clue if they're still working, though.

Nope, already been discussed. Needs to have active service for the full 12 months.
