$500 power bill? I think you are just joking but if anyone else is looking at this remember it's 1kwh unit and 100w solar.

At my rate $0.12 per kwh even if I charged it and used it every day with solar (wouldn't ever happen), then 31 days is about $4 in savings per month.
Just curious which state do you live? $0.12 per kwh is really cheap.

Can anyone help me understand why this only has two grounded outlets? Can I plug a surge protector into this to run additional grounded cords as long as I'm under its amperage.. most things have grounded plugs

This is no joke, you must not live in south louisiana Todays temp is 110 with 99% humidity , We are getting heat warnings on the news to stay inside. It has been as high as $650 a month in a 3000sq ft house with 2, 4 ton central ac units. Now I added another ac system to my shed. So I am just trying to cool off the shed with solar, a 2ton min split or 24,000 btu.
If you are so concerned with money, buy a 12k midea inverter ac and hole up in one room and shut off the 2 four ton units...

I don't live in south lousiana, it's not the $500 power bill that shocks me (we have $300-400 bills in TN) , it's that you think one of these devices can offset even 10% of that bill..

It's just math "The average residential electricity rate in Louisiana is 13 ¢/kWh, which is 28% lower than the national average rate of 17 ¢/kWh."

Let's for arguments sake say that you were paying $0.15 per kwh ( higher side ).. to offset $50

50/0.15 = 333 how many kwh you get for 50 bucks.

The FULL capacity of this is ~1Kwh ... This means you would need to power cycle it 333x in a month from full to dead (impossible) or have enough solar panels to effectively run straight all day on that mini split ( if it's 240v you are out of luck anyway ). Just ballparking but you would need over 3000w of solar panels ( or 30x what this deal comes with ) to even come close to being abel to use this like a glorified UPS and less than an hour after the sun is down you are back to electric company power.

What I'm trying to do is HELP you here not spend money on something with an expectation it will do something it won't.

If you TRUELY want to just lower your electric bill you need to look at solar panels on your roof ( or somewhere else ) you are pulling > 100Kwh per day which is really a ton, so you want to typically aim for average kwh for the year and base it off that... IMHO you should at least be looking at a solar array that will generate based on your usage and location about this to offset 50-75% of your usage.

      https://sunwatts.com/20-kw-solar-kits/

MAYBE after tax credits both federal and local you can offset it down to where it cost you around 15k or so .. But realistically installed and connected to sell back power to the power company you are probably looking at 25k minimum to spend.

Best case assuming no repairs etc you are looking at > 7 years for it to pay for itself assuming these calculations are correct....

I was just thinking, with the free solar panels I do have, I could just purchase a few more and set up a little system, that could save me maybe 100 or so a month, if so then 2 years or so it would pay for itself. Panels are cheap, you can get used ones for around $60-$100, was hoping to find a way to off set the cost a little during the summer months. Winter months, my power bill is a lot lower. If I did not try to conserve power, the electric bill would be a lot higher.
