This is a great deal if you need the storage. SSDs in that capacity can range from $600 to $1000 and good luck finding a Mac with that kind of storage built in for less than $4000.
But if not might as well hold a new M3 Pro on sale for $2499 (or less, open box) which blows the old M1 Max away.

I wouldn't say M3 Pro "Blows" the M1 Max away. And if you're talking about graphical grunt then it's the inverse.
8 TB storage is almost a $2k upgrade at Apple.com. I'm in it for this. 32GB RAM is plenty unless you are working with huge files. M1 Max is nice too, even though I've been happy with the regular M1. This will replace my aging iMac which replaced my intel MacBook Pro that would always overheat.
Another dumb question, does any1 ever actually clean their MacBook (dusted fan, etc.) especially for the M1 gen... Or newer?
As I never done to any of mine and start to wonder if I should do this routinely or/and would like to see how everyone treat their MacBooks..

The fan on mine almost never even runs, so there's not typically a lot of air moving through it to deposit dust.
I've had both a base M1 Pro and more recently an M1 Max with 64GB. Even on the M1 Max, the fan only ever runs for sustained max loads

The single threaded CPU scores for M3 are 30% faster and the multi on M3 Pro are 25% faster than M1 Max.
The graphics on M1 Max are faster, *if* we were talking about the 32-core version. But this offer is the 24 core version. And compared to M3 it also lacks ray tracing support.
Video decode / encode is also faster on M3 (although only the Max has 2 encode units? hard to find benchmarks) and anything earlier lacks AV1 support.

Or 64GB RAM with 2TB for 2,200
Which one is best bang for the buck?
Looking at the price for SSD will always come down at some point, perhaps the 64GB RAM will be more future proof?
