bingo. my recommendation is stay clear of this deal. for $500 you can get a lithium phosphate for the same capacity.... there's no reason to get old tech for the same price.
Generally speaking LiFePo4 is not as energy dense so you need more volume and weight for the same amount of capacity. I am not familiar with Jackery's products, so I can't comment specifically.

Is this better than the 499 ecoflow?
No it is not. This one is not LiFePo4 so it will not last as long as the Ecoflow. I also hate the design of the jackery. I use my ecoflow for camping so when I am loading up my car I can easily pile stuff on top of it. The Jackery has the handle on top which makes it more difficult.

What's a comparable item with the newer tech on Amazon for the same price?

The EcoFlow Delta 2 might still be on sale on their site for $530. I signed up for a new account and used the code EcoFlowWelcome50 to get $50 off. Total $480.

I don't want to mention any names because to be honest, i can name something up with all of them. there's no brand right now that i can say is the clear cut winner.
but to give you a general guideline the 1000 wh capacity is a very common model that typically goes for $550-600 USD. you can find bluetti, anker, jackery, ecoflow... etc (these are the big names. but again, won't recommend a particular brand because each of them seem to have their own problems). so if you want comparable then go look for the capacity and get one near the 1,000 mark. next is you want Lithium Iron Phosphate (LiFePO4) for the battery type. this is the newer tech that allows your power station to be relevant close to 10 years. it will still work even if you have it for that long but the battery will be degraded at that point. if the ad doesn't mention the battery type or doesn't mention 3000-4000 cycles (or 10 years) then you can assume that it's old tech. because all of the brands will advertise it if it's lithium phosphate since it's a huge selling point. consider the warranty offered by the brand. some are 2, some are 5.

Jackery has a great name and warranty in the business. Excellent c/s and why so many campers use them. Here in N.Cal the Forest Service uses the brand. I asked the Ranger why this brand and he said they have been bulletproof.

edit: some may have additional safety concern as well, LiFePo4 a safer chemistry.
