It comes with 4 coins, and it says real coins can be used (I assume 100 yen coins) but I wonder if quarters work with it.

These are a very popular toy vending machine in Japan. They have them all over Tokyo when I was there and you buy random, and in some cases rare and coveted toys or collectibles.

Looks like you'd need to fill with your own toys, but could probably have a profitable side hustle selling random crap to kids in your neighborhood.
