Great questions. I didn't see the height nor weight of these on the product page.

Repped! for the brilliance in using one of these to hold a shovel. I'm guessing the type and size of the shovel would determine whether or not one of these could multi-task

Bought the bass to learn how to play it. Have a bunch of guitars, but it's my first bass. So far so good. I like it for what I got it. Plus, I really like the red color.

Same here- I've played guitar off and on and have always wanted to learn bass. Part of my hesitation was that I was (legitimately) concerned that I wouldn't want to put it down. After one session, I can confirm that is indeed reality- I'm obsessed. And yes, the red color is gorgeous! (And ask any of my co-workers here about how excited I was while impatiently waiting for delivery laugh out loud )

These are terrible. I had to return mine as the quality is so flimsy and there's almost no foam to support the guitars. I don't recommend this.

These kind of stands are very dangerous to your guitars. The guitar is extremely susceptible to falling forward out of the stand, or if it's secured in the stand with the strap, it's very susceptible to falling forward with the stand. Been there, done that and not going back. I wouldn't put a First Act china guitar in one of these. Use at your own peril......

I was curious about if I'd be able to set my bass on it at a slight angle, as it is on the stand it currently resides on. Kind of with it leaning back a little bit...

My Fender Jazz Bass has a longer neck than my Tele or my acoustics and it has a very different balance point. Because of that, I would be more concerned of the Jazz on one of these stands than a guitar or banjo. All it takes in one slight accidental bump from someone or a pet, and over the whole thing goes. I had a very expensive banjo do exactly that in one of those years ago, and the neck broke at the heel when it fell forward while still secured in the stand and it hit an object on its way down. Never again for any of my instruments.

On stage there's often too much activity and confusion for me to assume that nothing's going to happen to my instruments while in a stand like those.

I personally prefer the kind of stand where the instrument hangs from the headstock at the nut which results in a very different balance. But I'm still very careful even with those. After spending mucho lottsa bux for a good guitar, banjo or bass, spending 50+ bux for a good and more secure stand for me is a good investment. Lesson learned the hard way.

Thank you for your detailed write up and the recommendations Smilie I will look into those.

Ouch, super painful lesson hug

My bass definitely has a different balance point than the acoustic guitars I'm used to.

Total garbage - I'd return them but return shipping is likely as much as they cost!

I received these. They are the most unstable stands I have seen. The question is not if your guitar will tip over, the question is how well built is your guitar to withstand multiple falls. One comment suggested using to hold a shovel. That is a good idea, and when it tips, no damage to the shovel (maybe to a wall?). But under no circumstances should you place a guitar on these. The foam is extremely thin, the plastic buttons on the end of each prong is sharp and will scratch the bottom of the guitar. The neck "support" is very large and the neck of the guitar will swim in this as the base is not fixed in position (the base when inserted does not lock, but continues to swivel which combined with the large neck "support" allows for catastrophic movement). The tripod itself can be moved to fall with a pinky accidently brushing it, that is not fair exactly, because your pinky will not even feel that you have moved the tripod, it will just fall (Do not place under a ceiling fan, the wind will catch the guitar and it will fall). Musicians Friend should NOT carry this product. The returns do not include shipping. So I now have three very bad shovel stands, I suppose I need to buy two more shovels.
