Looking for a replacement 6qt. Had an original that never failed but i melted the bottom on accident. I have the 8qt version of this model and it's janky. I always have to fiddle with the lid to get it to seal.

How long have you been using it? On one of mine (6 qt Duo?), I have to readjust the silicone ring every time, but it was after many uses. It's not a big deal, I just do it. But a replacement ring could solve it.

Put it on stove to vent and somehow turned the element on and melted the bottom before i knew it was on. I bought new rings for the 8qt after six months of use. I throw the ring into the freezer before use. Sometimes that helps. 6qt never failed to seal once in 8 years or so. I have to monitor the 8qt every time or it fails to seal. The main difference is the addition of handles on the pot. Maybe that is part of the issue.the sealing and venting mechanism is different as well but this seems to be more of a lid issue.

Instant Brands has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. Price should be lower then $50
At least me take a COSORI brand , they have $80 model and that one engineered much better
Is 6qt too much for couple. Feel like I only need 3qt
Depends on what you want to do with it. The Instant Pot was one of my first gadgets I bought after moving in to a place by myself. I felt the 8 Qt was just barely large enough to do what I wanted (rice and sides). Now I have a dedicated rice cooker that can do rice and some meats and cook with the stove/oven now that I'm more comfortable with cooking and baking. I have the instant pot doing slow cook dishes, soups, stews, and jelly jar crème brûlée or basically anything that I can just set and forget like sous vide.
If you're meal prepping or do bigger amounts of things, you'll want the bigger capacity. I can't imagine using a 3 qt at all though. But I'm also the person that hates having to make a new dish every day and then clean after that. I'd rather do it once or twice a week.
This used to go on sale for $49. Wow. I bought one for $49 from Amazon in 2022.
I like my IP. I have the 8 QT with the airfryer and the 6 QT swapped for the new version that's all gray with the new display. I barely cook on the stovetop anymore. I still brown my meats on the stove because IP can overcook meats. This thing is hit-and-miss with Alfredo. For some reason, the block cheese always sticks to the pot and the pasta ends up dry. But for spaghetti, taco pasta, chili, and some other favorites it is awesome.

Can't use the pot-in-pot method in a 3 qt and that's where the best results are obtained. For many I.P. becomes a rarely used appliance because they haven't tried covered pot-in-pot which allows things like dry steam roasting meat in its own juices instead of juice falling to the cooking water, delicate foods from being over-cooked or foods that get ruined if allowed to get soggy exposed to steam. But instead of DUO I would Buy EVO now called PRO for the same reason that I would not consider buying an iPhone 5 in 2024.

I like the IP for the Sauté feature …. it browns the meat great and the "Fond" left over is what gives the dish a lot of flavor.
AI Overview
Fond is a culinary term that refers to the flavorful, browned bits of food that stick to the bottom of a pan after cooking. It's created when proteins and carbohydrates break down and regroup during the cooking process, resulting in caramelized bits that are full of flavor. Fond can be found after roasting, searing, or sautéing meats, vegetables, or poultry.
