The instruction manual has explicit directions and even a chart on how to do this in section 8…

I'm still using my De'Longhi Magnifica after 20 years. Average 2 cappuccinos a day. I've only had a few small things go wrong with it over this time.

Good brand, but this machine appears to be purposely limited. It can't make a lungo or flat white for instance?! It is more than capable to do those.
Why couldn't it make a lungo or a flat white? Lungo just use less water (or more espresso) than the coffee setting, flat white just use less milk (or more espresso) than the latte setting

It might be able too, but I wouldn't bet on it. It appears like the touchscreen settings don't easily allow for the user to add recipes (volume of coffee, ratios of milk/espresso, etc). Tweaking the few drinks preprogrammed looks to be about it.

I get the business model though, each model that's more expensive does more automatic drinks. I just feel it's a crock.

Lungo would use more water not less.

I think he meant that it uses more water than an expresso but less water than an americano.

My last DeLonghi lasted over 8 years.... Probably the only brand that'd I'd trust to last besides Jura.

I had a Gaggia Brera that lasted me 8 years until I changed to a semi-auto. I gave it to a friend who is still using it. The only thing that broke was a tab that held the fascia to the puck container, but the others still held it on just give. It's a great machine.

You'll need that warranty.

It doesn't matter they pretty much all use the same brew group designed by Saeco 40 years ago, a company purchased by Philips a decade or so ago. These are extremely durable and reliable machines as long as you decalcify them regularly. With a 5 year warranty the Philips lattego is definitely a great buy. Gaggia, Delonghi both use Saeco brew groups, Jura I think uses its own (and they're not any better)

I have a similar superauto (Saeco Granbaristo avanti) now standing unused due to switching to a manual Flair p58 with a Sette 270 grinder. There was a time I was prioritizing speed and convenience of a superauto, but the quality of my espresso and milk drinks is so much better with my current setup that the superauto is gathering dust.

Do a quick search on Philips and their acquisition by a Chinese company along with a terrible new storefront and you will see why we have all ran away from Philips/. It will take them 5 years to return your warranty call/claim. I'm still trying to get a refund from returning my 5400 machine from a deal just under 90 days ago. Many others have as well.
