These hardly go on sale or ever have this good of a rebate. I just bought one and didn't even have to submit a rebate, the store just applied the rebate and sold it to me at $200 off. Out the door with a $35 delivery fee, $23 hose and haul away service I paid $1327.

This is the best model in terms of cleaning power.

If this lasts 20 years when the typical washer lasts 8 years, what's the cost total ownership vs others?
I see $1600 and a 7 year warranty for a washer

This is bizarre! I happened to be looking at these today. I cannot afford one now but I expect to in a few months. For those of us in Southern California (only) this seems to be about the normal price for Best Buy. See Speed Queen TC5 CLASSIC TOP LOAD WASHER TC5003WN - Best Buy [bestbuy.com].

Incredibly durable and reliable, but terribly inefficient with electricity and the amount of water it uses.
Wonderful. I need a washer that is not stingy on water.

The TC5 is not a good washer, despite its brand name. Gets bad reviews all the time. You can find an LG, Whirlpool, or Maytag for half the price and much longer warranty, that does a much better job at cleaning your laundry.
I cannot find any with a warranty more than 2 years for all parts and labor. They all have a much shorter warranty.

Go into a laundromat. You will likely see Speed Queens. They get very much use. And this model is commercial-grade.

I assume you did not search. I unintentionally found coin-operated models when I searched for commercial-grade washers.

Speed Queen also manufactures the heavy duty machines you see at many laundromats all over the country. Machines that are in use all day long without major issues developing.

Another nice thing is that Speed Queen has a good selection of replacement parts on hand. Those who unfortunately bought the eco-friendly machines found out the hard way that those control panels and other common failure parts are difficult if not impossible to obtain. So while their plastic washer or dryer sat at home waiting for parts they went to the laundromat and wound up using a Speed Queen anyway.

That's kind of the point. For example, the main reason why "new" dishwashers suck is because of government-imposed water efficiency limits. Turns out to wash dishes well quickly you need a lot of water.

I remember this was during the obama admin that H.E. label became imposed. We had no choice at that time but to buy one then had to buy H.E soap. Everyone that washed their clothing gets white marks all over, especially on darker clothes. This is because H.E machines use the tiniest amount of water and electricity they can to do a wash. So the marks and dirt never comes off your clothes unless yours has an option like deep water and multiple rinse to get around that. Still it doesnt work as well as a speed queen.

Was thinking of buying this. Can anyone recommend anything better, of have a good dryer recommendation?
I have the speed queen front loader. It's personal preference but a front loader extracts more water from the clothes and they dry faster. It also causes less wear on your clothing.

Not exactly…dishwashers and clothes washers tend to have longer soaking cycles now because for most people it's worth the tradeoff for energy efficiency. My dishwasher takes 3 hours on average, but also has a 1-hour mode that uses 2x the water. They come out clean, it just skips the soaking in favor of more water.

Washers are largely the same idea. IMHO the main benefit of Speed Queen is that it might last 20 years with no downtime. That can be a huge plus. But you pay for it up front and along the way, but I prefer expected costs over unexpected ones Wink

False!! My TC5 is 10 yrs old & hasn't needed serviced once. Does laundry for a family of 5. Speed Queen out does all other brands with their warranty & all metal parts. No plastic

My Speed Queen top load is about 10 years old. It's a boss. Nothing can make it go off balance and it cleans well. Only downside is it is rough on clothes. LL Bean polo and t-shirts will develop problems in the collars after a year of weekly washing.

The rebate is $300 for washer/dryer combo or $200 for the dryer only. THERE IS NO REBATE for the washer only as far as I can see.
