A cheap low to mid end laptop attached to an oled screen? I hope there will be more like this.
Extremely solid device. Will last normal PC tasks for years to come while also looking great with that OLED screen.
Its cheap because the 7520u is a garbage CPU. Its a quadcore with Zen 2 architecture from 2019 that was refreshed. The iGPU, a 610M, only has 2 CU's and is barely functional for use.

To put it into perspective, the LOWEST end Intel CPU from their generation that launched last year, the Intel 5 120u, is +120% faster than the 7520U, so over twice as fast. The iGPU is a lot beefier too. And you can find it in $400-$500 laptops, but obviously no OLED.

This is far from ideal for even Minecraft. Mods can eat up ram and it wants a good CPU and egpu or GPU would help a lot. The only good reason to buy this is the screen which for basic stuff / media consumption is great

16gb of ram is good, 500 nit screen is good, 3.4lbs is good (it says .7 inch thick but that doesn't seem right, I'd expect thinner).

Battery is okay at 42wh, not sure what the shell is made of. It looks like similar construction to the ROG G14 I had which I swear was plastic but people told me was magnesium (the bottom was definitely plastic, as I think it is here too).

The CPU is not terrible but not high-end. It gets 10,000 passmark average (i'm assuming this is on the higher of that scale due to the ram so maybe 11,000). It's like an mid to high-end laptop cpu from 3-4 years ago. People using this for work will have no issues with it. Definitely not a gaming laptop though you'd be fine playing things like command and conquer or roller coaster tycoon lol.

The i5 120u is a year newer than the 7520u.

For reference the 7520u is on par with the Intel i7-1165G7 which was a high-end laptop CPU from the end of 2020.

Are you sure there is no display over USB-C? I have a Ryzen 7 5700u and a Ryzen 7 6800h laptop and both support display over USB-C though neither one has a marked port as such.

Not saying the Asus does but I can't seem to find that.

I almost bought this laptop so I watched a bunch of youtube reviews on this laptop. From what all the reviewers said USB-C is data transfer only. No charging and no display over port. But honestly if you know what your buying this is a great deal and great laptop. Every reviewer loves it. First off its a laptop for general use, not gaming, or anything else. Its main advantages are Screen is supposebly one of the best on a windows laptop. Second would be with this processor you get great battery life. So if your just watching video's, surfing the net, doing stuff like MS office, and game streaming Its perfect. If you want to run a game on your harddrive not so much.

It's that time of year. What would you suggest that keeps the price down but still deliver something that will last a few years.
