This is exactly what these machines are for.

The dirty water tank tells no lies about how much grime it's getting off my floor

Just know that it takes about 10 mins to clean the dang thing when you're done mopping, so don't think of it like a stick vac that you can just use for a second for a small mess.

Is this any good for light mopping? I like to have a clean floor but mopping is perhaps my least favorite cleaning activity.

I'll give it a try then. I had one of these before, it was green and from a different company, it must have been a first generation product because cleaning the roller took longer than mopping.

Have you tried using the manual spin mop thing? May not be the right thread to mention it but it makes it much less annoying (and gross if you just mop dirty water all over), especially if you get the one with the separate clean water section

Alternatively Ryobi recently released a hard floor mop if you want more battery life (if you're in that ecosystem)

I have! I tried all the ocedar variants, I prefer the classic and changing the mop water frequently. I guess it's not that bad when I think about it lol, but I just don't like doing it!

This was 300-310 last prime day I believe. The s5 pro version was 400. From my research these things are designed to not last long

I have also tried that, steam mop and the swiffer style mop. This is by far the best. I poured milk and oil on the floor for testing, and this mop will clean them up without leaving an oily residue and I just use water without cleaning solution. I highly suggest not using any cleaning solution at all even the one that comes with it, it's not needed.

also for reference, mine is 2 years old now

I have the S5 corded version. Really like it. Gets hardwood floors clean. The preference of corded over cordless is we didn't want to worry about the battery running out or not being charged when we needed to use it. Plus the corded version has steam feature. It's on sale for 299.

Looks like the best price on the S5 I've seen. Been wavering between the S5 and the S3 when it's on sale at Costco for $200. But the S5 at this price I pulled the trigger

I don't have this one but I have a similar model from the same brand. It's great BUT you do need to clean it out after every use. It's a hassle and usually gross to do. If you don't it will mold. Probably great if u don't have kids and only for dust
