Great if you like paying an extra $500 for the name. SX derailleur and Recon RL on a $2500 bike is a joke, I'm sure there are other cost cutting measures but I'm not real knowledgeable on the SRAM drivetrains. Spend a few bucks more for a YT Izzo 2 and get a much better bike. An Izzo 1 would be cheaper with a much better fork, but still SX derailleur, but the cost savings could be put towards parts. A Canyon Spectral blows this away, the Ibis Ripley was $2500 for a while and a much better spec, seems to be higher priced now though. This is just a few, so many better bikes out there at the $2500 price point right now.

It's been this price for a while..
Its the last year model -that SC is making aluminum. They switched to all carbon frames now.

The Tallboy model is a dream to ride & can do pretty much anything, including downhill / MTNs; of course it won't have the travel as a real downhill bike but what I'm saying is, this is a do-it-all bike essentially.

Far as 35 pounds, eh if it was carbon it'd be a pound or 2 less. But for this price you buy this, then later upgrade to carbon rims & you can loose 2 pounds.

Check YT bikes... There's tons of random great prices on XXL frames out there.

Just look for a good deal on a GX derailleur. That SX crap is not going to last long.

Plan on replacing the SX derailleur mid season. SRAM SX is a group set that really only belongs on department store bikes. There's so much plastic on wear components that it just isn't durable enough for mtb use. Other than that, this sends like a decent deal for a Santa Cruz. Just be aware that you're paying more for the brand name here.

Yes but the isis xlt doesn't come with calipers 23 inch hyper flex 55 like the yupper itchy 54 does. Which brings into question the rabbit mechilf the tubular raptor snake 32 converter.

This is correct. I mean you can get a Polygon T8 with full Fox suspension, SLX drivetrain, and 4 piston brakes for hundreds less. If you want a sexier name the YT Jeffesy Core 1 or Canyon Spectral 125 are all better deals as well.

This sale has been around for at least 3 months… still too much imo. I called months ago and tried talking them down further as many bikes have been selling 40-50% off… they wouldn't budge. Nice frame… horrible spec… but that's how SC rolls.

These are great bikes, but putting this group set on it is sad. SRAM SX/NX are heavy and 2 piston brakes might be OK for some, but not for everyone. Shock is OK but the fork is basic. I think the Tallboy is a sweet short-travel bike, but this spec is so meh. I suppose you could find a CB and maybe do a little better on this price than through direct to consumer sellers.
As others have mentioned, you can find a great bike from YT or Canyon through their outlets and returns. They are also running solid deals on new stuff too.
Currently, either a Jeffsy or Izzo run about $2300 for their Core 1 and they are slightly better specs with carbon frames for a brand new bike.
Canyon has a similar spec'd aluminum Neuron 5 for $1800. You move up to Deore at this price point with better brakes.
Yes, Santa Cruz frames are great and VPP is a special kind of kushy, nearly bottomless ride that other suspensions do not deliver. But this isn't the best way to get that.

Way out of my budget. Looking for a mountain bike in the range of 4-500.
