Friends don't let friends use norton or mcafee. Bitdefender is great. I wouldn't really on Windows Defender.

Or you can look at independent professional tests and see Bitdefender is one of the best-in-class.

I have the 5 device version and just bought the 15 device one. It will not add on top of existing plan
Save the code they sent you and use it when your current plan expires. I had codes that were still good 5 years later.

thanks for posting this OP Smilie

If you need coverage for more devices and you're a Norton fan, amazon currently has 20 devices, 15 months, for $40 , Norton 360 Platinum

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07VGCN...uage=en_US

And in the past years.. if you can wait that long.. around Black Friday Office Depot will offer Mcafee for unlimited devices (or I'm pretty sure it's unlimited a lot of devices anyways) for... the price escapes me I wish I could remember.. I want to say like $11 or $12 or something like that? Pretty low for all the devices they cover.

I do know Norton and Mcafee will demand a credit card number to make the product work not sure if the other products listed on sale by the OP will also demand the same .. for Norton and Mcafee you absolutely, postively want to delete that credit card number right after using it to get the product up and running, there are some nightmare stories about Norton charging something ridiculous like a $100 automatically when your subscription expires and I wouldn't put it past Mcafee to do the same thing. Don't trust that simply turning off auto-renew will take care of this for you, and Norton and Mcafee will work just fine even with the credit card removed.

In Norton's case it's fairly easy, Norton requires you to create an online account and you just go in there and turn off auto renew then delete your credit card info, no interaction with a norton rep required.. if anyone is having any problems figuring out how to do it let me know and I"d be happy to post a comment-reply to help you out ... do be careful, Norton is sneaky and will highlight in yellow the " do not remove your credit card info" or "do not turn off auto renew" options to draw your eye to it so you click on it by mistake.. don't fall for this.

In Mcafee's case you need to speak to an agent to get the credit card info removed but it's a lot easier than you think.. use Mcafee's online chat option while you're checking email or whatever and keep the sound turned on so you can hear mcafee "ping" you when the online rep says something (or if you don't mind boredom and have the time just stare at the mcafee chat window the entire time Smilie ) .. the mcafee rep won't really care and won't hassle you about removing your credit card info.

There's a lot of debate about whether or not you even need paid security software or if the built in protection in say Windows 10 or Windows 11 (Windows Defender) is good enough...

https://www.pcmag.com/opinions/is...-by-itself

https://www.pcmag.com/reviews/mic...ity-center

General consensus I've seen is if you know your internet stuff well - what websites to avoid, what a suspicous email/download looks like and so forth.. you don't need paid security soffware, Windows Defender will take care of that for you. however a lot of families include people (those younger children or teenagers you love so much but who are clueless about this sort of thing Smilie more so because they're too young to really grasp "worst case scenarios"... older family members living with you who are just not that computer literatate, and not saying ALL elderly folks are like that but some do fall into that category... full grown adults not elderly but who really, REALLY don't grasp the fundementals of internet security ) who are walking talking security risks .. in that case I'd argue paid security software helps a lot as far as peace of mind.
This. I know my stuff and don't have to worry about getting a virus but other people in my family are susceptible. Older people and younger people are usually the ones who need this most. Real examples: cousin's kid (middle schooler) got a virus because a program was being distributed on his game discord where you can mine crypto and play video game. Installed BitDefender, removed it the virus and now he is protected. Another cousin's kid got a virus from downloading game related files as well. He didn't want him to be able to download certain things, visit certain websites, or stay too long on the pc: Installed anti-virus and set up parental controls and it was done. Total security for my mother's phone and laptop prevents her from getting scammed after clicking on posts, ads, etc. I personally like the parental controls for my own kid, and I also like the anti-trackers since data collection is so big.

Compared to Norton and Mcafee, I've been really happy with this one. Been using it for years and I don't see it taking up too much resources (maybe because computers have advanced so much?). 2 years for 15 devices at $35 is not bad at all. I would buy again if I wasn't good until 10/2026.

Bitdefender is garbage. On par with Mcafee
Your just spewing garbage. Been using it for years and that is after looking into independent tests that validate it's a good product.

These Bitdefender codes don't stack, right? Best way to get multiple years is to buy these and only apply one to my account at a time?

They will stack. Redeem one. Then redeem another. Your expiration date will keep adjusting accordingly.

I've been using Windows Defender for years without any issues. It's great not having to manage subscriptions. It should work fine for most people unless you download pirated software or visit known sketchy website on a regular basis.

Thanks. I extended mine to almost 5 years. Bitdefender has so pros & cons. The protection is great but it quite heavy in terms of memory utilization. In terms of CPU usage its good. One of the few AV products that tried that didn't mess up stuff with MacOS. When installing it on windows it will install a vpn client which is useless but at least you can remove that part (just add/remove programs & remove the vpn). I haven't had an android device for awhile now but it use to annoy me because it use to give me VPN notifications (like hey you should be on a vpn) when i already had another vpn. That might have been fixed but might not have been. In terms of IOS the only protection it provides is it essentially proxies your connection & scans but it doesn't have an AV engine on the device (apple does not allow it).

One of the greatest things about it if you are like me & manage friends/families computers is it gives you an enterprisey single pane of glass where you can monitor everything going on. So if your kid hits a bad website & it blocked some malware you will know.

Last month I bought another year of Kaspersky Total and I'm now totally screwed. Now I'm trying to figure out a good security suite with a low performance hit. I've only used Kspersky for the past 15 years...I have no idea what to get

EDIT
I got ESET. I'm hoping I can use Kaspersky Password Manager by itself or now I'll have to find a Password manager too
Get bidwarden or even better self host it and be at peace that no one has your data besides you. It's free by the way.

FYI you can *only* stack once. Try to add a third and the system will block you. Though I'm pretty sure those codes don't expire because I've held onto some for almost two years before redeeming.

This is the way. There is Microsoft Defender which comes with 365 that I think adds some extras but cant get it to work
