I have received used AirPods from Amazon in the past even though I purchased them new. I don't think they were fake though. Never again will I purchase Airpods from Amazon.

I ain't no apple shill,i don't own airpods 2. But i was extensively searching for new true wireless earphone/headphone and one thing that i can tell you from my research is that Airpods pro 2 has always ranked at the very top(or very near it) of mic quality.

That and the apple ecosystem integration are two main reasons people get these. Sound quality might not be audiophile level(and tbh,none of the wireless set are) But these have "fun" tuning and great for most people.

"Conversation Awareness" sounded compelling: I want the device to lower the volume - or better yet, pause - when I'm working around the house and my partner talks to me. But from a little online research, it seems like this feature only activates when the wearer speaks.

Is this (still) accurate, or has the functionality been improved?

That is correct. It only engages when the noise comes from wearer or seems to have come from the wearer.

I think i can wait til September? Were getting new airpod pros this year right? Ill suffer with my airpod 3's while cutting grass for another 3 months.

This is just me, but I wouldn't chance it from Amazon. Buy from Walmart or price match at Best Buy or Target. I price matched at Target earlier

That's accurate. I turned it off because it annoys me. I would rather just take it off of when I want to talk.

With Transparency Mode, you can also hear ambient sounds around you as well as what's playing in the earbuds. I don't use conversational awareness feature because either A) I hear what is said in a brief exchange without pausing my music/podcast or B) I click the earbud button to pause for a longer conversation.

FWIW, these are probably my favorite piece of technology that I own.
