Be excellent to each other and party on dudes.
I would really like a physical 4K collection set for all movies, that I assume would include a digital code too. This is tempting but I'll wait.

Do you need an Apple device, an iTunes account, or Apple TV subscription to use this? I'd like to have this but I'm not much of an Apple user anymore.
I did have an Apple TV subscription trial on my Smart TV, but it lapsed.

I don't have a subscription to Apple TV, but I can access the movies I purchased from Apple via the app.
Do you mean that you need an App on your phone, or you can just use a Smart TV app?

I really don't want to use a phone to play 4K content, I'd like to play it on the "big screen".

I use the Apple TV app on my Roku connected to my TV. It all plays nicely together.

You need itunes for Windows or an Apple device to purchase. If you want to view it afterwards you'll need a device like a firestick which you can use with the AppleTV app for viewing. I personally don't use my native smart tv features as "updates" can cause issues

Can't access your library though, that website is for Apple TV+ subscription.

JW4 4K UHD disc is a thing of beautiful cinematography on an OLED TV. It was the only way I was going to watch it for the first time.

Yeah, I tried to buy through a web browser as I don't have a Windows or Apple device. I was hoping I could buy on my account on the website and then watch it using the app on the SmartTV. Oh well.

As I recall I could access my library through the TV app, at least when I had a subscription. I suppose I can always access it, well as long as my account is valid.

Well, tried the TV app and after updating my credit card I was able to buy it right on the TV, and after an account credit it cost me $2.81 for this 4-movie collection. Woohoo!

Great deal! Any idea why these digital films never have Dolby 4k? Is there much of a difference?
If it's available, iTunes will always offer 4K, Dolby Vision, and Dolby Atmos audio for the HD price and any titles bought in HD that get updated to 4K get upgraded most of the time. (My Stop Making Sense purchase DIDN'T because a different distributor was selling. Boo.)

In fact, if there is Atmos audio available for a title, iTunes will play it back even if it's only HD which is why the MA codes I'd cashed in at Vudu have Atmos and HD video on iTunes.

I have John Wick 1 & 3 in 4K at iTunes and John Wick 2 in 4K at Vudu/Fandango at Home and all are DV and Atmos.

All the movies are beautiful in Dolby Vision on OLED, even digitally. I've got JW1-3 digital 4K and JW4 on UHD BD on on my old LG C3 and new Sony A95L they are beee-yoooo-teeee-full!

The last time I went to the movies was for JW4 last year and having an OLED really makes you hate normal movie theaters with their dim, low contrast, blah image quality . We used to go almost weekly, then monthly, and after the world ended we have been only three times since Feb. 2020 and I've gone only twice more alone. Movies are available at home in 4K in just a few weeks, so why rush out for a subpar experience?

If you had an Apple TV+ subscription, then you can use that same Apple ID login to purchase movies/shows without an Apple TV+ subscription. Or you can use the iTunes app on a Windows PC. Steps are here: https://support.apple.com/en-us/119890#tvapp

I have an iPad and iTunes on my PC/laptop so I use those to buy things. You can playback on the Apple TV app, BUT you can only access the feature film itself in your library. Any iTunes Extras (commentaries, featurettes, alternate cuts like how Apocalypse Now: The Final Cut includes the Theatrical & Redux cuts as well) are only accessible via an iDevice or iTunes on PC. If you're a big movie buff, it's worth getting a hardware Apple TV device just for the full access to iTunes content.
