Why are there so many people asking for comparisons of this to airpods when it's $25 and airpods are, well, significantly more expensive than $25. They have a similar design but they're completely different price brackets.

I saw this over at Engadget and decided to jump on it. I have my original AirPods that only 1 side will hold a decent charge. I got 20% off for trading in + $5 for the trade in credit. Came out to less than $17.
I would use my single airpod so I could use my phone while the wife is sleeping. Hopefully these are comparable to the OG AirPods for sound.

I have been using these for a year now. Compared to regular AirPods at ~$100, I would definitely recommend these. The quality is essentially identical and one cannot overlook the 4X difference in price.

That being said, there are a few quirks about the headset. I've set up Siri on the right pod and Alexa on the left pod. Triggering Siri takes an extra second or so, and the audio feedback that it triggered is so muted that you really don't hear it. I just triple tap the right pod (I've set it up on the triple tap), wait for 2 seconds and then just speak what I want to. Just have to assume Siri got invoked. It works most of the time. But it's inconvenient not having the audio cue that it triggered.

Another issue is that battery readout happens in the Alexa app and once in a while it doesn't show up immediately. Sometimes have to close the case, reopen and try a couple of times and then it'll show up.

For the iPhone, if one is not on a budget I would suggest the AirPods Pro. But compared to regular AirPods 2 or AirPods 3 I would definitely recommend these instead. Like I said the price difference is too big to ignore.

For anyone curious on how these compare, go here:

https://www.rtings.com/headphones...ble/128368

Sort by product A to Z. Also add the passive sound stage filters and all other filters you like to get a true idea of how these will be. It's a great link for a lot of earbud tests.

TLDR: they scored a 2.8 out of 10 on passive sound stage (which isn't too bad for earbuds), and a respectable 7.3 on recording quality. The playback of the mics is okay, but a bit echo-y. So, sound like you paid $25, but ok-ish recording quality.

Yes you can. You need the Alexa app only if you want the Alexa features or to look at individual battery status of the left bud, right bud and the case. You do not need the app to pair headphones with any device.

Also, without the app you get one common battery status indicator on the iPhone batteries widget for both headphones (the average). For example, right now Alexa app is showing my left bud has 57% charge, right bud has 63% charge and case has 22% charge. The iPhone battery widget just shows my headphones as having 60% charge.

These earphones are absolutely terrible! They refuse to stay in place and never seem to fit snugly inside ears.

Same question here I have AirPods 2nd gen basic type and wanted better audio quality
You typically aren't going to get better quality than $99 apple airpods from another company for $25. Fit is another very important feature. Battery life is an important feature. Water resistance. It depends on your needs. Airpod pros are $200. I don't find them impressive. They work they way you would expect earbuds should. I've had about 7 different earbuds. Several haven't been very comfortable after wearing them for a while.

Personally I'm leaning towards beats earbuds, they seem to be a middle ground, they have the Apple integration, while having improved audio quality

Just received mine. These sound pretty good without sticking into your ear canal, comparible to airpod original generation. I also like the tiny form factor, very easy to slip into the pocket unlike some of the Beats earbuds with huge cases. Only annoying thing was setup within the App, takes several minutes fooling around with the Alexa App instead of the typical quick pair.

You're not going to get it with these. They can sound similar if you're not picky and listening to speech instead of music, but no way they're going to sound better.
