A lot of pictures of a broken tool in the Amazon reviews, kind of scared me off.

A reviewer mentions not being able to adjust them one-handed. Wondering if, after the knipex patent expired, another company has made a version that can be operated with one hand, but sits in that 30ish dollar range

I'm waiting for my order to ship and see how it goes. I was also considering the one from Harbor Freight: https://www.harborfreight.com/10-...58200.html

Have these and handles are already sideways, based on design I would try HF ones rather than these, they're not designed that great and will break if strong force applied.

You have to press on the button in the middle to adjust or push on top while pulling bottom up so while it's technically still possible to adjust with one hand it's not that easy either.

I've had these for 4 or 5 years now, you absolutely can adjust them with one hand. You just press the button with your thumb and tip em/push one side or the other against something (I can make them smaller with my pointer finger and do not have large hands) and they adjust, easy peasy.

These work great and for the price vs knipex, I keep buying them

I bought a pair a few years ago super cheap at Lowes on clearance and quickly returned them. Maybe mine was a lemon, but with a decent amount of pressure, they wouldn't hold their setting and would slip on the fastener.

I haven't tried these but got a SD Irwin pliers set around Christmas. Metal-wise
they're good, but I don't like them ergonomically. The handles are wrapped in a hard plastic with really no give and don't conform to your hand. They also don't offer much in terms of grip. I'd much prefer a thin layer of vinyl or rubber than whatever they're using on these things.

I have a couple sizes of the Knipex version, because that was the only thing available when I was buying. They work great, even better than I expected. I generally like Irwin tools as well, but the large gland end on this one seems like it might be a hindrance for some tight-clearance work.

I've had these for a few years now and for light tasks around the house, these work great. I bought it at full price and for $17 bucks would definitely give it a go vs more expensive knipex if you're not going to use it everyday.

These are in my pocket every day at work for a few years now. Always have worked great for me. They can technically be adjusted by one hand but it takes enough contorting that you are almost always better off using both.

There are some times I need to go to the toolbox for something larger but I've really cranked down on these and I'm personally not strong enough to break them.

Bought it about a year ago and returned. It works for certain situations but the head is somewhat bulky. It will get the job done but i find the knipex plier wrench in 6 inch/150 better go to option for my needs.

The Icon copy of Knipex is a better bet. After coupon, it is about $30, but 10 inch.
