This deal price is $65.12 lower than the July 2023 Frontpage deal which received + 24 votes from the community. (Looks like I posted last year's deal, too!) Wink

Is it really quiet?
Never mind, I'll need a dual fuel.

You can convert it with a snorkel kit, I converted my gas Generac to propane years ago.

I bought this last year for a similar price, might have been the July deal.

Pretty nice unit. I use it to run my house when storms take us down.

Some of my notes from owning it for a year:

- Plenty of power, will run most small appliances and can start a heat pump. I haven't tried starting both pumps, if power is down that long I just leave upstairs breaker off.
- A 50 amp plug would be nice, but for the price I was okay with 30A - it at least provides 220. I use an adapter to switch to my house inlet, no issues so far.
- This generator is loud. It's advertised as quieter and lighter, but it's still loud and heavy. It is what it is, it's a lot of power for an inverter and it's open frame. Be ready for this though. It's loud enough I am considering building an enclosure. It has an eco mode where it will run at a lower RPM, but it's going to throttle up aggressively when demand hits and make a ton of noise anyways.
- Electric start is great, starts easy even after sitting all winter with gas in it. (I do run ethanol free gas, I suggest you do too)
-It hasn't blown up any of my sensitive electronics (Several PCs, network cameras, smart TV's, home audio)
- Dual fuel is a commonly desired features on generators this big, it would have been nice to have. There are aftermarket kits for this model (snorkel kits). They are around $200. If you do this, buy a reputable one and not some cheap no-name Chinese brand from Amazon.

If you have a big house with a lot of demand, and are okay with noise and running on gas, this is a good deal. If you do not need to run large things like starting a heat pump and generally just having almost every breaker on for comfort, consider a quieter and smaller generator. After my research last go around, when the budget is <$1,000, this is hard to find if 220 is a must.

May no longer make it a great deal but you can add a propane or gas kit to most any generator.

I paid 516.87 for this on December 20th 2023, when they had the price/coupon errors on these generators. ;-)

It's quite loud. Did I mention I only paid 500 bucks?

I'm currently using the 6250 watt version after the hurricane. I paid $750 for it in 2021 and finally got to use it lol. It is loud so I expect this one to be the same or worse. That said, mine has 5000 running watts and I'm powering 2 refrigerators, a deep freezer, a 10000 btu portable ac, WiFi, a couple of fans and phone chargers/lights and it seems to work fine. I am wanting a bit more so I might pick this up so I can power a few more things without pushing it to the limit.

Good deal on a good brand. Here in Houston we were just hit with Hurricane Beryl and my dual fuel Champion generator helped save the day. It has sat on standby in the garage for a couple of years and was periodically run to make sure it operated okay. But when crunch time hit it was ready and performed as expected.
These Champions are not quiet, but I have not heard of any type of portable generators at reasonable prices that are.

"-It hasn't blown up any of my sensitive electronics (Several PCs, network cameras, smart TV's, home audio)"... good lord, are generators typically known for blowing up electronics? Now I'm concerned on other brands. That should be a selling point..."this model won't blow up your electronics. "

FYI snorkel kits run between 2-400 dollars. It's likely just worth getting the duel fuel model for the price of installing an aftermarket snorkel.

I've done some extensive research trying to convert my own Champion 7500 inverter generator. I've been unable to find anything within that price range on eBay, Amazon or other websites. These seem to have gotten significantly more expensive over the past several years.
