SQ makes some of, if not the most, reliable machines on the market. They are often used in laundromats and other high use environments.

Speed Queen is one of the most reliable and strongest machines. However they aren't designed to be lookers or show-stoppers in a laundry room which is what a lot of the market is. Simple. Strong. Serviceable (should you need it)

I've heard they are THE most reliable USA built machines on the market.
They are commercial units built extremely well and if taken care of will outlast you.

Great machines no doubt, but you'd have to squeeze me pretty hard to spend this much on a washer/dryer set, especially without the high efficiency and feature set of some of the newer ones. I've had an assortment of older washer dryer sets in rental units over the years, including a Speed Queen, but I never had any significant issues with any of them. I did have a newer Samsung set recently where the dryer rollers kept going bad even after replacement, so I've decided to avoid Samsung for that reason.
Not saying that Speed Queen hasn't earned their reputation, but unless you are running a laundromat, I'm not sure I'd recommend this deal.

I have sold appliances for 15+ years. I like the TR5 & TR7 series better, but this is an absolute steal. If you need a set now....or in the near future, you need to make this set be in your budget.

I've been lucky my Samsung smart ones that are all digital are going strong after 5yrs+.

I like the retro look better, though not sure how I feel about an agitator, don't miss that or the crazy sounds.

I've seen other comments about this tearing cloths. Is it real and what kind of cloth does it tear (since I tend to believe my cotton shirts and jeans are pretty strong)..

I have Amana washer and dryer which I got it for $250 each and is still going strong after 10 years. Guess SQ will have to wait till it dies.
Amana is actually good because it is made by whirlpool but without all the extra garbage that usually breaks.

Replaced my parents front load LG with a SQ 2 years ago and haven't had a single issue. Not sure I'd spend premium money on a SQ dryer though.

Replaced our 20 yo maytag washer w SQ 3-4 years ago. Its actually very similar to the old maytag. Its simple, loud, sturdy, uses enough water, and cleans well. I expect it to last 20 years as well...

I would much rather have a no frills Speed Queen then the modern bells & whistles crap from LG or Samsung that everyone seems to get based on looks rather then reliability and ruggedness! And you can't go wrong with a unit that's built in the USA verses Korea or China or Mexico!

Looks like they don't offer installations and haul away services.
Put the old ones on the curb and post them on marketplace. Scrappers or refurbers will be there within the hour and haul away for free.

Same. We didn't. The people at the warehouse laughed at us pairing a SQ with a cabrio drier.

When that drier dies I'll likely change it for a heatpump drier.

I was looking for a top load washer with agitator, stainless steel tub, and manual water level settings when I replaced my 20+ year old Amana top load. After much research, I went with the GE GTW325ASWWW for $500. It's mostly "old-school" except for an optional water sensing "feature" that I never use. I'm happy with it so far after 4 years.

Is this a good enough deal to make me replace a Maytag washer/dryer pair I've had for about 3 years?
Better built in quality. I still have mine after 20 years. Still no repairs ever needed. Same motor as the washaterias. Soild built. Cant get better machine.
