I'll admit I don't know much about the cost of inflatable rafts in general but I can say I'd barely pay the msrp for a non inflatable kayak.
Might be alright once or twice time use if you do not have access to water or a way to transport real kayaks. (Rent one)

I've used an inflatable kayak for 3 years and it is still going strong. Different brand, just commenting so inflatables don't get discounted completely.

The downside of mine is that it isn't as nimble in the water as a hard plastic kayak, but the benefits for me - living in a city with no kayak storage or transportation - are many. I get to go out several weekends a month during the summer with no rental fees.

You also get to go at any time you have time, instead of making sure your time and the rentals coincide.
