seems most people here recommend doing Y5 first due to the story progression.
(unless you just watch the story on Youtube)
https://www.reddit.com/r/yakuzaga...za_5_or_6/

I'm doing 5 right now after 4..
Kiryu's part is great but others seem a bit tedious.

I bought Kiwami 2, 4, 5, 6 on MS store(PC Windows version) for 4.99 each so slightly cheaper than this.Only catch is that Steam DRM is more reliable than MS. But for the price I'm fine with it.
Besides I have free Xbox GC from Samsung to burn....so.

From the original series (0-6), I have a hard time choosing between 6 and 0 as my favorite.

6 felt like the first game in the series that was actually a "modern" release and the first to use the "Dragon Engine". All of the other Yakuza games just felt dated for when they were released (and I played all of them at or near release), they just had a long loading times, menus were a bit slow to load, etc. Not 6, everything was buttery smooth and the combat even felt so damn refined. It wasn't as content rich as 0 but it was blast to play.

0 is easily the most entertaining game in the series (which is saying a lot) and had the best story (which is also saying a lot). But after I played 6, I couldn't help but think how much better 0 would have been if it was built with the Dragon Engine when I went back to play it.

But like the previous poster said, I'd play them in order for the best experience so play 5 before jumping into 6.

Kiwami 2 came out after 6 and used the same engine. It definitely feels more polished. 6 was just the first one on the Dragon engine, so it's a bit rough.

0 is absolutely the best one. It would be great to see them all get the Dragon Engine treatment or at least Yakuza 3, that game doesn't hold up well at all. Lol

Lol. Can't agree more. I technically got Y3 for free with the Remastered bundle(3.4.5) for 9.99. But it's hard for me to actually play it. Y4 and Y5 are somewhat old but still playable. Y3 Kiwami is badly needed.

I did play Kiwami after having played 6, because I wanted to replay the original (which is a sentimental favorite due to it being my introduction to the series) but wow, it definitely wasn't much of an upgrade from the original. I did not know that Kiwami 2 used the Dragon Engine, I'll have to check that out..

Agreed on Yakuza 3, that one is definitely kinda rough compared to the other two PS3 Yakuzas.

What? Kiwami 2 is a huge update from the original and even a huge update from 6 since they were able to add more features to the dragon engine such as weapons.

I never said it wasn't..? I just said I didn't know it used the Dragon Engine and never played it. I only played Kiwami (the first one) which I wasn't super impressed with.

Kiwami 1 was also a huge update from the original PS2 title. It's a complete remake for the PS4. It doesn't use Dragon Engine but it's on the same level as 0. The story may not be as good as 0 but they kept it true to the original. And come on, Haruka!
