Wow, amazing price! Great deal OP! Best price I've seen by far. Wish I could justify spending this much on a laptop when I barely game anymore

Great deal, but also a case of getting what you pay for.

That ridiculously low price for an rtx 4080 laptop that doesn't skimp out too hard on stuff like ram etc mostly makes this very slick.

I was reading/watching a few reviews and the takeaways are that even amongst other hot and noisy rtx 4080 gaming laptops, this Acer underperforms (GPU runs about ~15-25 watts below Nvidia spec) and is still crazy loud (60dB+). Even if you do not tweak voltage boost pl1 & pl2 etc settings to get the laptop performing in a manner more comparable to the 4080 competition, throttling is inevitable because the cooling simply can't keep up (no vapor chamber).

Basically you're getting roughly desktop 4060ti performance but with 12GB vram, decent screen, good cpu and ram, decent keyboard that has numpad, and a lot of your time spent tweaking this thing so you can enjoy using it for (AAA) gaming without insane noise and/or throttling.

For the price, definitely a good deal worth considering. I'm tempted but nah.

I actually plan to undervolt this anyway to keep it quiet. Undervolted 4080 is still better than full power 3060
What's the program for undervolting GPU? Afterburner?

So far so good. If you follow instructions to go GPU only, you'll lose half your battery life easily. With GPU off it's actually completely silent

Either upgrade to a new one; can be had for cheap or send back. I'd send back cause F having to spend more $$$ on something that should work

Got mine today, ran some superposition benchmarks after I updated all the drivers to see if it was true that the GPU struggles to perform cause of lack of vapor chamber.

From what I could tell it got hot fast and was on the louder side but not horrible, it scored pretty highly, but unfortunately it was slower than my 3080 desktop which I was hoping to replace it with if it was equal or better in performance. On average between each test I ran compared to the 3080 desktop I have, I saw about 5-10% less FPS on average from the 4080 which is not bad at all, but I had my hopes and sights set a bit higher. Wanted to be even or gain some.

At this point, this is still an amazing price, the laptop looks brand new, but im going to be sending it back, so keep your eyes peeled they might restock it in the next two weeks.

I might just go after that Asus A16 and focus on a less powerful mobile option to compliment instead of replace my desktop.

I could not for the life of me get it to go above 16k in TimeSpy. Also, I cant find a program to get a good idea of CPU usage as everything only used 3-5% (per the Predator Sense which is terrible)

I didnt use 3DMarks I used superposition so different benchmarks but on average in superposition it scored just around 10,000 +-400ish. Overall very respectable and if I didnt have this desktop I would probably be keeping it, but I cant justify the cost for it to be slower and I already reset it and requested my return label. My desktop averaged right around 11,000 with +-400ish.

Not sure how that would be equivalent in time spy, but superposition is free which is why I use it, so if you got it run it through there and let me know what you get.

Ill test it out tonight, funny enough I have a 3080 in my desktop as well and will be updating to a 5k series whenever they come out so Im not sure im keeping this as it's rather huge and would rather something smaller even if it's less performant like the G14 im testing as well

What Superposition settings did you select?

I just did '4k optimized' and got 12054/12980 (on predator sense 'balanced' setting)
