Is there a hype about Monstera plants lately? I've seen a lot of people interested in them lately, even some more expensive ones that have white spots on the leaves.

I suspect Monstera deliciosa is the archetype of the big houseplant because it's easy to care for. It accepts a wide range of light levels, tolerates drought, and doesn't mind being root-bound for years.
Variegated plants are popular because people like the look, but they usually need more light to maintain the variegation (but not too much light because they are also prone to sunburn). Thai Constellation is unusual because its variegation is stable, but it grows slower and is prone to root rot. Over-hyped for years, probably, but the price is coming down. I finally broke down and acquired one when I saw 6" specimens being sold for $30 at Walmart 🤦 ♂️

Nostalgia, I guess. Throw back to the late 50s-60s. Everyone had one in their living room. They get very tall and are super easy to care for.
I think I'm in for one. Comparatively speaking, this is a deal. The rest are overpriced unless you're accustomed to buying from a florist.
