Used Spouse's referral and did 100k, then asked for a match.
So, its a 120k+40k in total.
You could be selling some stuff on ebay/amazon or driving uber or cutting your neighbors lawn.
From what I have seen, your spouse from the same household can refer you but not yourself.
I am not sure if that would result in a ban though.
Chase gives 5% cash back on Staples purchases. Staples OFTEN have no activation fee when you purchase Visa Gift cards. I buy the maximum allowed, hubby buys maximum. We then use the gift cards to pay (AND prepay) power bill, phone bill, Spectrum, taxes, insurance, etc. The 5% cash back earned covers any cc fees. This allows us to quickly fulfill the $8000 requirement. We also use the gift cards for everyday purchases, just write the amount spent on the front of card so you always know how much you've spent. When you end up with a small amount on a gift card, just use it at the grocery store. Their system will charge whatever amount is left on the card.
Oh, and our adult children are perfectly happy to get Visa gift cards for gifts!

It may not be the same with your provider, but I just log in when I get a new electric bill and add a new payment method. Then I pay $200 (or whatever amount is on the gift card). I have added a new payment method on Walmart when I place a pick up order. Just get your total as close to the balance on the card as possible. I then use those small balance cards at the grocery store because their system will charge whatever is left on the card. I can actually purchase grocery store gift cards at some grocery stores. I just add one with my groceries as I pay.
On Amazon, I just Reload my Amazon gift card balance. I have even purchased discounted Lowes Home Improvement gift cards from Staples. That is an excellent choice. Staples purchases earn 5% cash back and we get military discount at Lowes! Be creative.
