So does adding $3.50 x12 to PayPal or cash app count ?

"non-retail" transactions do not qualify. I feel like it could be tricky to hit the required debit transactions.

I use Andrews FCU which also offers 6% (but only on balances up to 25k). They require 15 debit transactions but there aren't any limitations. Some of my transactions are less than a dollar. I usually get my 15 transactions on my daily $1 cups of coffee.

I avoid cash app because I've had bad luck with it coding as an ATM transaction. Missed out on my qualification one month because of that.

I had an account like this and I would buy amazon gift cards to meet my transaction requirement.
