Price is per EACH speaker, not the pair shown in the picture.

Trying to be helpful here for people who are new to the hobby, but there are much better speakers than this for the $1,800 asking price. The wharfedale Lintons with stands for $1,800 or the mofi sourcepoint 8 for $2,000 would blow this away. If you wanted a floor stander, I don't even need to list that options. Check crutchfield and there are several options at or below this price that are step above. Even kef occasionally sells the kef r3 metas at the same price as this, and no one would argue these are anywhere close to the kef's own r / meta line series.

The context you've left out is that few speakers are going to fill a room like these 950s. Go to Magnolia in Best Buy and these stand toe to toe with Martin Logan and B&W, don't knock the Q950 as they are exceptional.

He's also comparing a higher line bookshelf vs a loud speaker…. At least compare apples to apples

Bought the q350s with the q650c middle channel.

How would this compare? I assume I'd still want a center channel. My usage is primarily movies but I also enjoy a lot of music specifically EDM and rock. I have a Klipsch 16" 1800watt subwoofer currently as well if that helps make the choice between these speakers or q350s.

Depends on the room they're being placed in. This speaker needs a big room. Also, these are nearly 2k/pair. Not much of a deal.

I've got a 20x24 Home theatre room I'm setting up. Can someone recommend me a set up for <$2000 total for the audio side? Room was a theatre before, so speaker wires are already run, but I know nothing about speakers and/or receivers to complete the set up. If it's helpful, I'm pairing with Aurora Pro Projector.

Any chance you have a receiver deal that you might know of? Just bought two Martin Logan 60 xti, 50 xti , 2x motion 2i surrounds, descend 12 sub, kef kube 12 sub and now need a receiver

Anyone remember the old 7.1 rda inegtra audio designed by Balanced Audio Technologies? I have one in great condition and looking for suggestions on what I should use with them. I have 703's fronts with complementary center. Using the A8 as my receiver as primary support for heights and addition surround support. Thanks.

For home theater, check out Klipsch rp-8000f ii, JBL 590s or polks reserve series (R7; great for music too). Klipsch and JBL will provide the best bang for the buck in the used market. You can also check out emotiva latest floor speakers. There are other brands too but they can be more expensive for a better musical experience. As for a receiver, depending on the number of channels you are looking to drive, get Onkyo rz-50, or the pioneer 501. I love Yamahas and their aventage series is good. It all depends on the number of speakers you are looking to drive. For sub woofers, go with dual svs, rsl etc. hope this helps!

I would never take advice from someone who tells you that some speakers are good for music and some are good for home theater. The goal for most people are accurate speakers. It makes no sense that you would want less accurate speakers for home theater.

I didn't leave that context out, nor did I compare them to B&W or Martin Logan, which are very expensive and tend to not offer the best value. Those speakers tend to be a bit bright/analytical sounding and are therefore not popular with everyone. As for these Q950s, these are overpriced, and the examples I listed would fill a room better than these with a much broader appeal to most people. I sincerely hope others buying off this link at least research a bit further before wasting this much cash on a budget sounding speaker. And yes, I have heard it and it is very unimpressive for the money, but if you're coming from a soundbar, sure it will sound amazing.

Right there is the reason I won't recommend any company that proudly displays photos of pairs while selling individual units. Lookin at you SVS..
