There are use cases for traditional coolers. Not having to worry about 24/7 power source is one.

No anger here. Just discussing pros and cons. I have an electric one and use it for certain use cases. But you know what is a huge turn off? Having it in the car, stopping for an hour or two, and worrying about draining the car battery or dealing with a Jackery or other power pack. Battery anxiety is a chore.

...at this cooler price range, you might as well start looking at 12V DC fridge options and never have to worry about ice / ice taking up space in your cooler again.

Good deal. Aquifer Blue is back to normal prices, so I purchased a Reef Blue cooler. Should work well for long days on the boat.

Guess I've angered the cooler purists by suggesting there might be a better way, in this same price range..

You could say the exact same thing about having to try to find/buy ice out in the boonies.

You could say the exact same thing about having to try to find/buy ice out in the boonies. 12V/100AH LFP batteries exist, and at ~22lb, one can power a dc fridge for days without even needing solar.
You do realize people use coolers for different purposes than this?

Of course I do.. I just find it wild that people will pay this much for a traditional cooler that needs ice, when that same $300 could mean you never have to deal with ice again.
To each his own ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I just want to check with others here that this yeti cooler is 5x better than the ones you can get at costco like the Igloo ones?

Check out the Rover coolers, similar price point and a rubber wheels, which i think work much better in various environments.

I have a yeti 65 and a Coleman 45 cheap cooler the Coleman works almost as well and I use it 70% of the time just because I don't need ice to last 2-3 days. If you're only using it for a day a Coleman will perform almost as well. I gave up on these types of coolers they're too big and heavy for normal use, yes it has wheels but I'm still lugging this thing in and out the car. If you have use for it definitely go for it in use the yeti on multi day camping trips but the Coleman for everything else.

That's the one I have it's the Coleman 48 seriously it's a beast. Check out YouTube there's a lot of comparisons.

You can technically still return it at REI and purchase this one.

Thanks! I was looking for something to haul drinks for boys soccer games. This looks to fit the bill!

No it's not, but it's certainly better. I have a few of each.

To each their own, but for that use case, cheapo wheeled color is fine. And much lighter and easier to deal with. And no worries about someone stealing it. Expensive rotomolded is way overkill for day use.
