it is a nice laptop, i have it and upgraded it to 32GB ram. on the heavy side, good performer although i have occasional times where it behaves weird, sluggish for 5 seconds or so and the goes back to normal (i checked the CPU usage and was not topped, maybe writing cache?? don't know)
the most important caveat to consider, is that it will not charge from the USB-C port unless the computer is completely off, so you are required to carry the HUGE and heavy proprietary charger brick

RAM is fully upgradable (64GB max), extra spot for second NVME SSD.Cheapest it's been yet. Plenty of threads on this exact model (i7) and the i9 model on slickdeals, plenty of info on the laptop there.

Personally, we're very close to the new AMD and Intel CPUs being released, that I'm just willing to wait to see what they bring.

Any idea how soon this might be?

Costco had this last week for $1200 with 32gb ram and a 2tb drive for comparison. They have since sold out.

Also, I believe there is a bios update that allows usb-c charging.

Got this same deal 2 months ago off woot and couldn't be happier.

The screen is amazing, it's well built and it flat out flys. Games as good as my 3060 desktop does.

Thank you! I'm glad you mentioned this. Huge PD lover. Odd that the machine won't charge via usb-c unless powered off.

Appreciate it. Thx!

I got the same Woot deal (refurbished w/32gb ram) and it flat out screams. Amazing laptop. Only gripe is the giant brick of a 200w charger but that's what you get in a gaming machine.

My office used to buy these for everyone but they all started failing after 2-3 years of light office use.

This laptop will run DaVinci Resolve perfectly. With the Intel CPU, surprisingly, it ran smoothly with 16 GB of RAM. I upgraded it to 64 GB for 4K editing. The screen is mediocre because it's glossy. It's a great buy for content creators and occasional gaming.

If you care about being able to see the letters on your keyboard, never buy an HP laptop with silver keys.

Sucks no usb c charging while on. Also its pretty heavy considering its not a gaming laptop.
