The product description shows it can provide ethnicity estimates for over 2,600 global regions including Asian regions. However, reviews indicate it may not provide very specific ethnicity details for customers with Asian ancestry.

Ancestry is more in depth what your background and if you're wanting to connect with others who have a DNA match.

23 is better with health related information.

I disagree. I have done both. My 23andme results were more precise when it came to origin/ethnicity. It correctly identified Galicia, Spain as my number one Spanish place of origin, which is where 2 of my great grandfathers were from. The percentages also made more sense. Ancestry is better for making a tree and finding relatives.

Sorry I had it confused with 23nme, it was pretty accurate. Not sure about Ancestry...

23andme huge data breach, and they have turned off several shared genealogy features:

https://www.google.com/amp/s/amp....g-response

Realistically, every company is prone to data compromise these days...

I get a notification about my data being obtained via a breach just about every 3 months or so (various companies.) I'm used to it now. I leave my credit reports locked until I need them.

Can us customers turn off shared genealogy features?

I've only done Ancestry. My sister did the 23andMe. The results we got were basically the same.

The reason I went with Ancestry is because it has a lot larger user base which means your odds are better when trying to find close/distant relatives.

With that said, I think Ancestry's business model is BS. It only really tells you your place of origin(s). For anything and everything else, you have to pay for a subscription and there are many different tiers which makes it even more confusing. I bought mine on sale for $49 years ago. I think regular price is $100. Even at $50, I'm not sure it's worth it but at $39 I guess it's ok... I can't speak on 23andMe though cause again, I've never used them.
