I got 2tb SanDisk ssd from Walmart in a deal for $69 (rn it's 89.99). If you're looking more store around the same price.

Regular T7 has heat issues. The shield series seems to be better.

Can anyone else confirm? I'd like to use one of these for dashcam recording in my Tesla. Any recommendations?

Am data hoarder and traveling laptop gamer. Never had an issue with either of mine, believe it would be good for your use case. The shield likely has the same temps, you just can't feel it due to the 'shield.'

It's 20% off for USED ones that are labeled "good" condition from Amazon warehouse.

I was referring to disconnects during data transfer more than comfort.

I'm sure you're fine for your Tesla. They don't use a lot of bandwidth to really push the drive. 1 tb is probably overkill unless you're adding music to the drive.

Mine is on 24/7 connected to my server, 27-30 C which is lukewarm or less. Under load it's 33 C.

People often recommend the "High Endurance" type of microSD cards for Tesla DashCam due to the constant writes.

That said, I have a Samsung T5 1TB SSD that I had laying around and have been using in my Model Y for several weeks now without issue.

I think you'll be fine with this T7.

Just follow the instructions in the manual on how to partition, format, and prep the drive for use in the car (super simple): https://www.tesla.com/ownersmanua...DEE21.html

Basically format the drive as exFAT (keep it single partition for simplicity) and then create a TeslaCam folder at the root of the drive. Plug it in the USB port in the glove box and that should be it.
