I had a Vantrue N4 which has a common issue with the camera going out and only recording a black screen until you press the camera physically, then it starts recording again. There's a common issue with these Vantrue cameras where after 2 years, the screw holding the camera lens comes loose. You can't open the camera and screw it tight because the wiring and housing won't come back together after opening it up. I wouldn't recommend a Vantrue for the price. 2 years for an issue like that and their support won't accept a return. They only offer you a small discount on a brand new camera.

Normally I'm all poised to attack a company over crappy service and warranty, but they actually processed an RMA for a unit that failed on us. It wasn't seamless, but it was replaced. They wanted me to pay return shipping then later reimbursed it on the order.

I love my dual cam. The night vision is clear enough to make out what you need in case something happens. Make sure to get a durable SD card as the cheaper ones do not hold up to hot temperatures. This will get warm because it writes a LOT of data to the drive and will be even hotter during summer. Save yourself a hassle and get a Sandisk extreme or equivalent - you want the card to always work because you never know if something is going to happen.

The interface is simple and easy to use. The audio is very good - picks up voices well. The wiring kit allows you to hardwire it or use a 12v. I love the one I installed in my X3 and will be getting one for my wifes X7.

I had a hardwire kit for their N5 that failed and they sent a new one out, no questions asked. Given, it wasn't for the camera itself, but the process was painless for me.

On that note though, I have the N5 and would argue that if you don't need the cabin facing camera on the rear, the N4 Pro would be a better selection (which is/was also a Prime Lightning Deal).

With this type of dashcam, I would advise against using a long cable to wire the front and the rear cameras. In most cases, the cable will be tucked right where the side airbags are. This can be a considerable risk in a car accident. To avoid this risk, I just get a separate rear camera and power it with the rear 12v. For the front camera, I use a dongar to let it share power with the auto dimming mirror.
