Might as well get a regular set; for much less money. Even if you have to build a sound proof room. Otherwise a modern pro drum pad unit; which can also be used with a regular set for the best of both worlds.
It's like; if the visual aspect of a set is required for a stage/show then an old school drum set looks better anyway. It depends on what you want to do. However; these sudo drums and machine combo mash ups are out of control, with high prices. They can't make you play any better. And they are (at best) trying to feel more like a real set; but at many times the price for that. So... a real set feels like a real set! For less.
Useless comment. Folks in an apartment don't have the luxury to buy an acoustic set and just "build a sound proof room". Not to mention these are far easier to store, schlep, and modulate sound to your need. Acoustic kits are great, if you can accommodate an acoustic kit and it meets your needs. Electronic kits are great in a variety of other circumstances.
I have the TD27KV and couldn't be happier with it (except I'd love to have the VH-14D hi hat, that now comes with the kit). I mean, c'mon...the hi-hat, ride and snare drum alone would cost more than this price if you bought them separately. Two upgrades I'd strongly consider: 1. Upgrading the floor tom to 12" and 2. Upgrading the bass drum to something like the KD-120 or KD-140 - I'm not a fan of the KD-10 that comes with this kit and upgrading the bass was well worth the money. Really fun to play and this is a steal at the sale price.

These are a solid buy at this price.
Simply logic then would dictate one could practice with inexpensive electronic drums (or multi pad) with headphones(where they are required), for much less. So the price is not justified (as a slick deal); but you're welcome to pay to much.
I'm aware quiet practice is great; but a basement and sound cage is best if you can. There no problem with an ultra cheap electronic drum set for just practice, and with headphones. However, it still makes some noise, so they are much less loud, not silent. And when you know; that a real hit-hat and bass drum is better, (and more real parts of the set from there) then you might as well get a real set, and a much better (slick deal) value. Even with multiple mics for real (affordable) drums, in a mics set.
The moves to make an electronic set more and more like a real set is the clue. A real drums sets feel, responsiveness, and usability for both practice or stage means it's probably the best value.
And don't buy online without seeing a set in person, first. Some are really short.

Agree on bass drum, I played the KD-200 at a local shop and it was like heaven. If you have the money, upgrade the kick to a KD-200 or similar. It also adds stage presence if you're gigging.
Well, this deal is toast, but if the pattern continues, a deal on the TD17 will be next. And hopefully, the TD27 deals continue into the future. Cheers everyone!

There's decent sale on the VAD506 set at Sweetwater for $2999, but including the old hi-hat kind of killed it for me. It would be nice to have the larger toms though....

Yeah that's an older kit, it was replaced by the 507.

Thanks! A friend of mine is on the fence. Where does it show the countdown timer?
