I just signed up. I don't mind as my mortgage was just sold to US Bank. I have never had an account with them prior to the mortgage. So I plan to send my work direct deposit until I reach the $8k threshold then turn it off. After each direct deposit, I will immediately transfer that $$ back to my normal chase checking account. Once I stop the direct deposits I Plan to keep $1500 on the account to avoid fees. After I get the $450 bonus how long do I need to keep the account open before I close it?

Just get the Cash Plus credit card, no balance worry and 5% cash back on two categories.
I finally got mine recently.
Held out and then played with the numbers.
$8k seems like freaking a lot to me ...

I don't think there is a set time but my personal rule is 1 month.
Best of luck to everyone who has applied for this, but just wanted to add that I have had nothing but problems with US Bank.
I've had applications for my bank accounts denied multiple times with no response until you call and they 'push it through', I've had bonuses not get paid out and investigations into it that have gone nowhere. Some times I've had issues getting a hold of anyone, and I don't think there's a way to chat on their app or website (so its always a call). The app will randomly forget your credentials.
Recently I tried to move a small amount of money ($15) out of my account and it kept telling me external transfers were not available at the moment and to try again soon, I tried again nothing. Waited a few days tried again, nothing. Called them and they 'unlocked' the account which took 72 hours, after that time period I was able to move the money. Called to have them close the account, and it'll take ten days and they say sometimes it doesn't go through and I'd have to call in again.
$7/mo. fee if you don't manually go in and disable paper statements.
And If I'm not mistaken, they make you leave the bonus in for 6 months.
Still worth it.
$450 for an $8,000 investment over 6 months is a 5.625% return. That barely beats current high yield savings accounts not including the compounding interest those get. It is also less than return for an S&P 500 ETF/fund. So you can get similar or better returns elsewhere.

You don't need to leave your direct deposits in there to get the bonus. I set up recurring direct deposits and immediately transfer them to my regular bank account at a different bank. Bonus posts after 90 days, I withdraw it and close the account
They declined last time since I received bonuses for similar checking/ savings account 4 years back. I have to raise multiple tickets to know this reasons.

Its really just a broken bank from top to bottom.
Normally they don't post the bonus until after 90 days is up
