Occasionally Best Buy will have a two pack of the 75 W color bulbs for around $60 in case anyone is OK just waiting and scouting for the higher wattage bulbs

I'm allergic to light (lupus with serious headaches in bright lighting) and have had multiple brands- Sen*gled, Hugh, cheaper brands, too. These are some of my favorite! With the bridge, and the ability to make them more 'sunset' colored, they're snappier on Hubitat than a lot of the other brands, and I like their color rendition better. Thank you for the tips on pricing in both places

I'm curious -- is there a reason why there is such a price disparity between the Hue lights and something like these bulbs [amazon.com]. I've bought a half dozen of these and they seem perfect to me. Am I missing something by not purchasing Philips Hue?

I'm wondering if there is a premium paid to continue using the Hue ecosystem.

Tapo is okay but Hue has an entire ecosystem with far more granular control and effects. Not to mention the bulbs you linked are WiFi while Hue bulbs connect to their own Zigbee hub, so fewer devices consuming your spectrum, better range, better battery life (for sensors).

There is nothing wrong with the wifi bulbs. I have other types of smart bulbs which are fine. Not until I bought some Hue bulbs and had them in the same room as the wifi bulbs did I notice the quicker response and the deeper colors. If you don't want to go down the Hue rabbit hole just stick with wifi and be happy. I have since replaced six of my wifi bulbs with hue bulbs.

BestBuy has these for $79.99 right now. I really like the hue downlights both the slim and retrofit. The GE/Jasco switches I had been using fail really often. Have several that are just trash. It's easier to change these bulbs than replace a smart lightswitch. You can also get a hue lightswitch that is a wall mounted batter powered remote control.

It's a fair point and how I viewed it originally too. Here's how I ended up framing it though: it's expensive compared to normal lightbulbs but if you compare to any home renovation project, it's fairly cheap to outfit part of your home with smart lights. Benefit is subjective but I just have mine set to use "natural light mode" which adjusts brightness and color based on time of day. Hue does great job of this and it's really nice to have light automatically adjusting. being able to do colorful festive lighting is nice too, but personally not a feature I use frequently. I bought majority of mine used off fb marketplace and it was imo, no brainer 100% worth it.

Looking back on my life I think all the hue products in my house are probably some of the worst purchases I've ever made lol.

I like the blooms but all of the bulbs only ever stay white. The gimmick wears off super quick.
