Just bought the F4-424 (not Pro). Besides RAM and CPU, any reason to buy this instead?

I don't get it… what is the point to purchase this disk rack? As far as I know, people buy NAS for nice systems.

This or Synology DS224+ for Plex, Channels DVR? Running Plex and Channels clients on Shield, Amazon Fire TV Box, and AppleTV. Using HDHomerun Prime with Comcast with Shield acting as Plex and Channels Server. Thank you!

That's what I've seen reading around. I prefer that myself.

I think you are much better off with Synology for that purpose/Plex. Synology continues to make improvements and updates. The reason many buy Synology is the software and hardware reliability. They also have great resale value if you ever decide to upgrade a unit and get a larger one.

While Synology is consider most user friendly they are also quite expensive when compared to hardware with similar specs so you're paying a lot for their OS.
For certain components they even lock you to their own brand, going a bit too far, to be honestly.
Besides they use very outdated Linux kernel and software in the name of stability, not really a big fan.
