But I think you just proved that wrong.
This scooter thing definitely seems like a fad. I didn't even think skateboards were a limited trend an they are gone. I seen someone dragging theirs around a store. Took up most the cart. They are far larger than they make em appear as.

I have the Segway F35 from Costco a while back. It's a nice scooter; surprisingly useful (in fact, I'll be riding it to my doctor's office today). Before I bought it, I checked its max weight limit (same as F40). After almost a year, the scooter still functions like new w/ no maintenance --> I've yet to change brake pads or even fixed a flat (knock on wood). Also, I've not noticed any battery degradation. You need to use the Segway app to setup it; but after initial setup, I just deleted that app (i.e. no need for app to use the scooter).
On scooters with solid tires and without suspension, those little sidewalk lips and curbs can be very dangerous unless the rider actively negotiates them. On this scooter (speaking from riding the F35 , a very similar model for almost a year, you'd hardly notice them.
From what I read, it is a real pain to change the tires on these things because of the motorized hub. (I've not yet needed to do anything , so this is just what I read)
