Have the 8 GB RAM, and turning on the "reduce animations" (Settings -> Accessibility -> Vision enhancements -> Reduce animations (toggle on) made a HUGE difference and is a game changer! Feels much faster and snappier in response. Initially had animations reduced to 0.5x under the developer option, and still felt jittery at times. But the reduce animation makes this feel like a $500+ tablet!

Even the fastest SD cards are orders of magnitude too slow to be anything close to system memory

Is this chip laggy for streaming 1080p video and web browsing?
No. It's doing well on 1080p videos. But not capable of handling 4k HDR 10bit (I know screen is only 1080p so most people won't mind probably). I have a large Plex library that are 4k+hdr+10bit, and it won't direct play.

It will do much better on everything compared to fire10

I'm so sick having to deal with Amazon Fire Toolbox as well. It makes the entire OS rather buggy and glitchy and LAGGY
Yeah I don't know what to buy. I have the 2021 Fire HD plus and while it was fine initially all of the apps loaded slowed it down. I have severe lag now and only way to fix it is force closing apps despite me closing them from the home screen.

I think Amazon Fire OS is just junk. I even cleared off the bloatware with the Fire toolbox. I don't want to spend a ton of money for just using Youtube either but want a decent user experience.

Yeah, the 4GB version I had and sold was very laggy. The 8GB should be better if you have a lot of apps open, but the RAM won't make a huge difference if the processor and Samsung's OS layer is slow. I have learned something about Samsung: Unless you buy their flagship phones and tablets, they are usually laggy and stuttery. They have a vested interest in doing that as they always want to steer you towards their super expensive devices.

Here is the side by side comparison:

https://www.notebookcheck.net/Hel...596.0.html

Looks like the G99 has a faster GPU, while the SD695 has faster CPU cores.

I just ordered the new iPlay60 Mini Pro from Amazon with 8GB RAM and 128GB storage from Amazon for $140 with their launch coupon. Should be here next week. I have been looking for a smaller tablet, and this one seems to be perfect in terms of size (8.4" 1080p display), and weight (310 grams). The A9+ is quite heavy at 480 grams.

I also just ordered the 8.7" version of the Samsung A9 international version from eBay for $90 open box. Both the iPlay 60 Mini Pro and the Samsung A9 8.7" have the Mediatek G99 SOC. Looking forward to trying some smaller Android tablets after being stuck with big and heavy 10-11" Android tablets for so long. I wish more manufacturers made smaller and lighter tablets and phones.

Was tempted to also order the 8GB A9+ for $154, but I already have a nice 11" tablet with an OLED display (Lenovo P11 Pro Gen 2), so decided to control my constant urge to buy more gadgets. Lol.

Those having issues with it not showing pickup, what color are you buying? I can see silver and graphite for pickup, but navy is relegated to shipping only. I'm in west Michigan. Curious if it's the same for others.
Seems like Navy color is a Samsung exclusive. Silver and Graphite options are the only two colors being sold on Best Buy's website, which is probably why there is an option for Best Buy pick up and Navy is only for shipping.
