When I used $ back sites, the price reverts to $200+ unfortunately.

Have the 8 GB RAM, and turning on the "reduce animations" (Settings -> Accessibility -> Vision enhancements -> Reduce animations (toggle on) made a HUGE difference and is a game changer! Feels much faster and snappier in response. Initially had animations reduced to 0.5x under the developer option, and still felt jittery at times. But the reduce animation makes this feel like a $500+ tablet!

Even the fastest SD cards are orders of magnitude too slow to be anything close to system memory

I realized that the listing for 8GB (RAM) + 128GB (SSD) mentions "SSD". Does this mean that the 128 GB tablet has solid-state drive? However, SSD isn't mentioned for the 64 GB model...but wouldn't they both technically be using SSD?

Note - I tried both the 4GB and 8GB versions, and 8GB comes across much faster. There is a tiny bit of lag but it's not bad and more visual stutters (when looking for them) than actual slowness. It's a solid tablet at this price, for sure, but I would definitely get the 8GB over the 4GB. The difference is fairly significant in speed and multitasking, etc. Not night and day, but definitely noticeable.

The price is the same for both through the Samsung Shop App so no need to consider the 4GB variant

Thanks for confirming this!

I have owned other tablets such as the Nexus 7 and Fire HD 10, where overall performance got really bad due to slow storage rather than due to a slow processor. Storage performance does vary and does matter a lot.

I paid $131.74 + California sales tax, picking up from Best Buy today.
I hope it's worth the money. Seems fair enough. I own Samsung phones and earbuds so I wanted to get a Samsung tablet.

I used a Samsung cashback offer through a Bank Of America credit card link. I hope it worked for 4% Cashback + 3% cashback from online purchases using the BofA credit card (it's my selected category).

I don't know how they verified my edu email. I haven't logged in my university email address in 25 years. But I put it in and it worked, ha!

Used the app, not logged in and it gave me a $269 price. Logged in to my first responder discount account and it only dropped it to $229
Bummer, could have pulled the trigger on that lower price.

Do you consider it worth upgrading from 4gb firemax 11? Firemax has better screen and sound but if everything else on Samsung is better or as good then maybe worth a try.

I wouldn't be able to give you much feedback since I've never used an Amazon Fire Max 11 before. I've compared the two tablets using this site (https://www.gsmarena.com/compare....e2=12617), and the Fire Max 11 seems like a solid tablet too! I guess it comes down to OS and security updates (Samsung may provide more updates) and your preference to Amazon vs Android. I've always used Samsung phones for the past 12 years, so I have gotten very well used to Samsung's UI and my preference for Google Play store.

But ultimately, the price was just unbelievable to pass up for even for a budget tablet. If you are able to find an iPad Air (1st Generation) for around $40 to be used as a trade-in, it comes out to around $78. We're most likely NOT going to be able to find similar price for this tablet at 128GB and 8GB RAM unless you're buying it used/refurbished few years down the road.

The deal is still working as of now! Make sure you follow this instruction:

I just got it for $35 after trade in ipad Air 1st Gen. The trick is to add $113 iPad Air 1st Gen trade in inside the website and add it to the cart and then if you go to the shop app , it should be in your cart and you will get both trade in and app discount. The price after after trade in and discount should be $35.69
I already had an old iPad Air in home but even if you buy it from ebay it's around $30-$40 and make the A9+ to around $70
You can still find used iPad Air 1st Gen on eBay for around $40, which would bring the cost of this tablet under $80 after tax!

I haven't had a chance to play with mine yet, but I watched this video and it mentions turning off the animations to improve responsiveness.
