So what's the deal with the refills...are there any good generic/third party ones or is Thermacell the only ones we should buy? Amazon/Walmart best places for refill cartridges? Do you change the pad every 4 hours as recommended or can they actually be used longer?

The pads or the fuel? I've seen some third party ones on Amazon but never used them, I run the pad until it's completely white

I was asking for both, in case there were any that were decent and comparable to the OEM.

I did notice on a review for just the fuel cartridges that they liked having that option to buy cartridge only since pads last longer than stated. Didn't know if that was just a one off by that person or if it was accurate. Thanks for the info on the pads, I didn't know they changed colors to tell if they're done or not. I will probably stick with OEM cartridge refills and pads.
